Oh I know these feels all too well. I'm a Cashier as my primary job, and people get upset when they can't find something in a department like HBC or Photo. They never ask the people that actually work in those departments for help but then will bitch about it when checking out.
Bottom line: I feel for ya. But at least you keep smiling even if they are bitter. As the saying goes: "Kill them with Kindness."

It happens a lot where I work, those of us on the floor are trained to be cashiers too when they have to take breaks or they need help. But cashiers aren't trained for the floor, so generally asking someone at the register where things are yields no results anyway. Because they have no idea where anything is (some, not all) so they have to ask us anyway.
I have only had one person who was really bitter to me, more so than this. But the situation was out of my control.

Yeah, I work at a retail chain called Meijer. Since we are a 24 hour job, we have all 3 shifts. I work the night shift, 3rds. But you'd think it'd be quiet, but instead its like night time is a calling card for all the assholes to come out and play. I know where some stuff is, but not all.
My favorite situation is, because I'm trained to do conditioning in Grocery, I will be conditioning stuff on the Grocery side of the store and people will ask me where stuff is. I really have no freakin idea, but I've learned what goes where on what isles so I can at least give them some general idea of it.
I've had several sadly haha. But I'm now deciding to kill people with kindness. We have those people that will come in JUST to try and get us upset so that we act rudely so they can call and complain >.<.
