The "Cardinal"

Built in 1927 by the Brill Car Company for the Frankfort and Cincinnati Railway Company operating between Frankfort and Paris, Kentucky. Was used to handle all the F&C's passenger operations until 1952 when it was retired.

The "Cardinal" actually broke down the final week of passenger operations on the F&C. This dictated that the President of the F&C drove ticket holders between Frankfort and Paris in his personal car the last week of passenger service.

Car was donated to the Kentucky Railway Museum who with almost everything they own let it rot down to a hulk when in 2007 several historical groups raised funds to have the car professionally restored to the condition seen here.

Technically the car can operate under it's own power but supposedly one of the wheels has a small crack and the museum won't run it and like the laundry list of other problems they have won't take the time to fix it. Stuff like this is why the museum is now having a difficult time soliciting donations because local groups don't believe their money will go to any good use.
