Weaknesses: is not tanky and is likely to lose in a head on fight especially if the oppent got muscles Is built to be sneaky assassin not a one man army. You'll only need to worry about me when not thinking about him. And won't approach an incest infested house. Is deafly afraid of bugs.

History: Cipher is a anthro-feline who grew up in a age of swords and sorcery. Though unlike most of the civilizations in the world his clan had no dragons or giants to worry about in the area, instead they have something that is much worse. Every few years during the spring season swarms of hand sized beetles sweeps over the forest that devour the crops in their path while the insects used a toxin to paralyze animals so they can lay eggs in the flesh that would hatch into larva that eats its way out which left the victims at a 99% fatality rate.

Cipher's family of farmers who built wooden stables with thick walls meant to safely store the cattle during the time the swarm came around. In his late teens he was old enough to watch over a stable building alone. He felt safe during his stay when the swarm first came since the stable has lasted a few generations without problems, though one night he heard a loud thud that startled him awake. He bursted from his room and he saw one of his cattle had fallen to the ground that is getting covered with the deadly insects. He knew the rule if this were to happen is to lock himself in his room to stay as far from the beetles as possible. Though his instinct was to save the animals he has taken care of so he rushed out of his room, grabbed a shovel and tried to pull off the insects and smash as many of those pests he found. He realized that more of these insects kept coming as fast as he could kill them so after a quick look around he spotted a small break in the wall they were coming through. He grabbed some of the tools and wood around him and blocked the hole. Though he did not understand that for each beetle he smashed the more he was covered in the insects scent that alerted the remaining beetles to make him a target. He fought off as much as he could but the toxins over took his body paralyzing Cipher.

Cipher's body was soon covered by the insects as they continued biting him, injecting more toxin until finally laying eggs inside of his body. That lasted for several hours until the last of the beetles finished depositing its eggs then scurrying off to a dark place in the stable. For almost a day he was unable to move his body until the poison started to wear off, when he was finally getting control his body was still weak from the toxins and solidified eggs so it took a hour crawling to his room at a sluggish speed. For the next week he lived off of the jerky and water he had in storage while having the constant pain of the larva inside of him. When the swarm had ended Cipher's younger brother came in to check up on him. What his brother saw was Cipher slowly pulling out the maggots that were eating their way out. Unfortunately there were a few spots Cipher was unable to reach so his sibling was tasked with cutting into his back and shoulders to get rid of the pests. After the last maggot was removed and squashed Cipher smiled at his brother then passed out.

He woke up hours later on a table where his mother was bandaging his wounds. Both of them knew that the injuries caused by the insects have scarred up and the spots are unable to grow any fur which left the marks highly visible. On the bright side because Cipher had prevented the beetles from pouring into his stable only one out of the thirty cattle died from the beetles instead of them all being infested. First and only thing Cipher wanted to do upon regaining his strength was to hold a town meeting. He explained what had happened and demanded that they all should find a way to get rid of the beetles instead of hiding from them. Seems that already multiple ways have been used to stop the swarm from simple traps to even magic but none of them worked. It would be a few years before the swarm returns so Cipher volunteered to leave the forest town and go to a major city to finally find a way to stop the beetle problem. Cipher was warned that going into the forest alone was dangerous and it would only get worse when he had to travel through the territories of monstrous beings. However Cipher did not have any fear of a creature twenty times his size since he learned from the expereince that stealth and poison is all that is needed to take down his foes.

But upon his day of traveling when he settled up camp and dozed of he awoke in a place with still floating islands and and saw still figures of the swam attack his a other towns and the people frozen in time as trying to defend themselves. Then he meant the Outsider who said a lot of things will be revolving around and saw him worthy to bear his mark and said that he'll be watching Cipher as it all unfounded before sending Cipher back to his world where awoke seeing the mark still on his left hand which he keeps covered.

Currently Cipher is known by people out of his hometown as a mercenary for hire. He spent a over decade trying to find a way to stop the beetles but after many failed attempts the only difference now is to reenforce the buildings with thick metal plates. Reason he became a
mercenary was because he needed to learn fighting skills to survive while exploring. Though with his way of silently taking out his targets with stealth and poisoned daggers a few groups offered to have him join. Because being part of the traveling group would help him find a new way to get rid of the beetles he took the highest offer. When meeting new people Cipher likes to show them that the only scars he has are from that traumatic event. At first his group did not believe his story until they realized whenever Cipher sees a bug he goes out of his way to kill it, even on the job when he has to use a throwing dagger to get a spider in the distance. The experience taught him what method to fight with but seeing a insect of any type reminds him of his past and the only way to remove the fear is to termate them.
