I thought so. It was hard to get a shot without a bunch of people's heads in it too. That place was PACKED!! All the bikers going to Sturgis are totally overrunning this whole area.

and there's an amusement park of sorts at the base. When you see crazy hourse first this seems less impressive since their scale fits about on his face all in all.

There's no amusement park anywhere near there. I don't know where you got THAT bit of mis-information. Though, yeah. Crazy Horse's scale makes Rushmore rather small seeming. Or will anyway once it is more complete. As is it's still a little hard to visualize.

yea. was a sign at entrance that said t.hey had a water slide or something set up. might of been event or somthing. *shrug* coulda been advert for elsewhere too was several years ago. we did a drive by as it was late in day and we had 1kish milles yet to get home.

Huh! If it was there it had to be some kind of special event that was going on. The only permanent stuff are the exhibits, snack bar and souvenir store.

I read the comment you made about bad timing. I can understand why with all them motorcycles around for Sturgis. A friend has been posting pictures all week of his trip up there. I also see the Missouri flag and I think I see the Kansas flag, thats the one I am most interested in but living so close to MO I am partial to it as well.

It wasn't all bad though. The timing and all the bikes. I got to see some outstanding custom bikes and taked to a lot of cool people too.
They have all the states flags up there but I couldn't get them in one shot and make it a good one of the mountain too.
