Armaggon is a time-traveling, cybernetic-enhanced, mutant shark from the 1990s Archie Comics " Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures " comic book series. I dunno why he's any of those adjectives other than that Peter Laird drew a cyborg, mutant shark & the writers used him in a story called the " The Future Shark Trilogy ". I guess his name was taken from somebody's misspelling of the word " Armageddon ".
For whatever reason, ( most likely for comic book reasons ), Armaggon needed Hitler's brain and some other odd things to make his time travel doohickey extra mean & nasty. So, he's got Hitler's brain in some sort of upside-down fishbowl in this pic ( that's what that meat-product he's holding is supposed to be anyway ). I think the absurdity of his plan has sunken in and he's on the verge of a maniacal giggle-fit.
I dunno if anyone really knows much about this dude or followed the comic book but, I had to make a creative decision concerning his fingers. In the comic, he started off with three but wound up with four. I just gave him four cuz one can always use an extra digit. The things on his shoulders are some sort of implanted missile launchers. Even though the art was really quite good and it looked liked they had fun drawing him, the artists had trouble keeping Armaggon on model. They also seemed to love drawing him getting punched in the gut. It happened at least 3 times in the series.

I remember not being really fond of Armaggon very much - especially since he blew out Raph's eye and helped Shredder and Verminator snatch up both Leo and Mikey in the comics. As for him taking Hitler's brain ...WTF and who was the writer that made that plot even happen?
A possible WTF idea can be that Armaggon is playing "toss the brain" with a brainless Hitler, and maybe Armaggon finds it really funny. *Think of it as playing Toss the Football. You'll get my drift*
Coincidentally, I have seen an image of Future Raphael deck punch Hitler on the jaw; maybe that's how the kidnapping of Hitler's brain ties into the story..somehow.

He kept getting beat up though. Sometimes I felt bad for him. He wound up trapped in some distant future where New York became a swamp full of mermaid-fairies.
Hitler's brain does some how open a portal to WW2 or something. I can't quite recall what happened though... even though I just read the things.

I only knew of Armaggon from the Super NES Tournament Fighters game. For all I knew, he was created just for the game. After seeing all your art, I feel like I missed out on the Archie comics, but maybe your art makes it look better than they were?
Armaggon was a bit more svelte in the video game though. He looks a little bit like a shark crossed with Cerebus the Aardvark to me here.

I actually penciled the comic story where this character first appeared, a quarter of a century ago in "The Mighty Mutanimals." The only reference I had to work from was a single drawing that was sent from Mirage. My memory here is a little fuzzy, but that drawing may been drawn by Ryan Brown. That same story introduced the "Mer Dude." The reference they sent me for that character was an action figure! I don't recall if the figure was on the market yet or not. One of the fun things about working on the TMNT line back then was that Mirage allowed everyone to draw the characters in their own way, hence the visual inconsistencies. Also the deadlines were really short, so nobody had much time to fuss over the drawings.
Very cool. I remember that too. There was a sort of cross-over with the TMNT book & the Mutanimals. Armaggon didn't make the action figure line back then ( or I'd have gotten one ), but I guess there's a new on for the Nickelodeon show. I prefer his original look. Thanks for the info! I really appreciate you stopping by.
