I've been much slower lately, haven't I? I suspect this has to do with the sheer waterfall of insecurity that washes over me whenever something I do for fun falls under the spotlight for others to see (hence the picture before this being titled "Insecure"). Plus, on the bright side, I've been getting dragged to rowing lessons 3 times a week at 4am...and that -really- hurts on the next day. Hence lazyness. |3
Anyway, about the image itself...amusingly, I began it at about 7:30am yesterday, after getting home, showering and all...and worked on this straight until about 3pm, leaving the rendering to be done through the night as I sleeped (good way to let it render to best possible quality and take its time). The theme itself changed several times, as the background was some old medieval ruins in the winter, her in a similar pose, a heavy coat and such colorful titles as "Hopeless Days" and, later, "Days of Grays". But eventually, it kinda became this, as I got rid of the coat (it looked too cartoonish) and made it more of a showcase of one of my recently edited character textures. The majority of time was spent on lights and composition, as usual, but also on trying to give her some fur texture (fail) and playing around Iray shaders (success...ish). I read that fur texture could be done with a noise texture in a displacement map (whatever that means), but I only succeeded in making her look like a videogame glitch. I'll study further later. |3
So, yeah. I kinda like it, especially after using specular/diffuse adjustments to make her eyes 'pop' a bit more, something I like even in regular art. |3~

Yeah, I had a hard time trying to get some rimlights without making the character uberbright and also keeping those neat reflections around. Especially since the software-created lights (as opposed to environmental maps here) are kind of...odd, in Iray. Needs moar experimentin'. ~_~
