Aaaaaaand the lovely Sardonyx gracing this art page at the start of a brand new day. How're ya'll doing tonight?
I came up with three different pose ideas for Sardonyx (came up with only one for Sugilite and Rainbox Quartz before I decided "I want dat one!"). Ended up finally settling on the third, not only because it best divided up the width variations of her body without having huge sections of blank space, but also because the pose itself, which I had based off of my interpretations of a magician's assistant, seemed appropriate all on its own. The other two either had large sections of empty space between her arms and body, or else it had one hand sticking straight up in the air in a "presenting" sort of way, which I didn't feel complimented her rather triangular design scheme.
The most difficult thing to get done on Sardonyx was, by far, her head, which is likely why it's the first thing I set to working on. Normally I don't draw overly cartoony characters, so getting used to drawing things like triangle heads in drawing Steven Universe characters has been an interesting experience.
As per usual (but for some reason must be specified on this site) critique is welcomed, encouraged and appreciated.
