Once upon a time there was a dragon. Not your average sized dragon but a dragon about the size of a house pet. His name was Azul. He had searched many years for the right mate to start a brood with and he thought he had finally found one... Her name was Razen and like him she was of the smaller dragon species as well. Azul harbored no real love for Razen, but none the less he courted and mated with her and within a few months they had many beautiful eggs to keep safe and warm. Things were good for the first week, but Azul, even though achieving his goal of the big family hed always wanted, found himself unhappy. One Fateful night while Razen was out hunting and Azul was eggsitting, a lone cat snuck into the cave. Azul saw her almost immediately but did not jump to the attack as most parents would. There was something about this cat... She was emaciated and starving but yet stunningly beautiful. Azul couldnt take his eyes off of her. He was stirred out of his trance when he saw her try to steal an egg. He smiled and silently glided behind her and landed, trapping her in the cave. He cleared his throat loudly and spoke up "You wouldn't be trying to steal one of my eggs now would you, pretty kitty?" He snickered at his joke as she jumped in suprise and looked over her shoulder to peek at him. Time seemed to stop for both of them as their eyes meet for the first time. Azul rustled his wings nervously and cleared his throat again, "Well...?" The cat snapped back to reality and her cheeks turned pink with embarrassment, "I'm no liar... Yes... I was trying to steal one of your eggs... I'm sorry I tried to but I'm just so hungry! I haven't eaten in weeks and I fear I'm not going to make it another day without something in my belly..." The cat took her paws off the egg and turned around fo face him. Azul was shocked at how honest she was, but he liked her brutal honesty. The cat looked away from him and stared at her paws and started to quietly sob. Through hics and choked sobs she spoke, "I-I d-don't want to d-die sir..." she sniffles and crouched low to the ground as if expecting a hit, "Please don't kill me!" She looked up at Azul with fear and tear filled eyes. something strange happened to him at that moment, he felt like a lump was stuck in his throat and he had the strong urge to hold her and let her know everything was alright. hed never felt the need to comfort someone before but he couldnt stand to see this cat cry. He wrapped his wings around her as if to protect her from all the troubles in the world, "shhh. Do not cry.. I will not harm you... here.." he gently dried her eyes and unwrapped his wings, "Come" He turned and went to the mouth of the cave. She looked at him in disbelief for a moment but then did as she was told and followed him into the night.

Azul lead her down the mountain and into the thick forest behind it. They finally came into a moonlight clearing within the forest. fireflies came to life and scattered into the air as they entered the clearing. a small stream ran through the clearing, with a shallow rock cave formation sitting next to it. The cat stopped, her eyes widened and she marveled at the beautiful scene before her. Azul looked back to make sure she had followed him and he smiled as he saw the look of wonder in her eyes. he went to the stream and swiftly stabbed an unsuspecting fish. he tossed it to the awestruck cat, "Eat" he commanded. She looked down at the fish and then looked back at him baffled, "Why..? Why would you help someone like me? I tried to steal your egg!" Azul, not knowing the answer himself simply answered "Eat. Then we can talk." She nodded and tucked into the fresh fish. She groaned as the delicious meat filled her belly. Her sound sent shivers up Azuls spine. Once again, a first for him. She finished and looked down at the bones rather disappointed. Azul chuckled and went back to the stream, "Another?" The cat blushed and nodded shyly, "Yes please sir..." Azul quickly caught and tossed her another fish which she eagerly chomped into again. Halfway through the fish she froze mid-bite and looked at him in horror, "YOUR TRYING TO FATTEN ME UP AREN'T YOU??!?! YOUR PLANNING TO EAT ME!!!" she started to back away slowly. Azul stared at her with raised eyebrows and started to laugh loudly, "No you silly kitty! I don't want to eat you!" The cat seemed flustered now, "Then WHY?! Why help a lowly egg thief like me?!?!" Azul stopped laughing and turned very serious. He approached the cat and looked deep into her yellow eyes, "I honestly don't know the answer to that Ms. Kitty... There's just something about you... You're unlike anyone ive ever met..." The cats frustration seemed to die quickly as she gazed back into his piercing red eyes. Her mind foggy from his beauty, she found herself unable to speak. Unable to contain his curiosity anymore, Azul asked, "What is your name, 'Pretty Kitty'?" The cat shook her head to lift some of the fog in her head before muttering softly, "Milly..." Azul brought himself closer to her and like before, instinctively wrapped his wings around her as if trying to shield her from the world, "Milly...." he repeated the name, "I am called Azul" He said breathlessly. Their faces were so close together... If he moved just a few more inches forward he could.... Suddenly, a loud angry roar echoed through the air.

It was Razen. She had returned from her hunt and was angry her eggs had been left unprotected. Azul sighed heavily and reluctantly pulled away, "and THAT is my mate, Razen..." Milly seemed dissapointed that he had pulled away. Azul looked up towards the cave then back at Milly, "Can I see you again? Right back here tomorrow night??" Milly smiled excitedly and nodded, elated that he wanted to see her again. He returned that excitement with a huge sparkling smile and said, "i'll be waiting in this meadow at midnight then. When you get hungry just come back here. there's always plenty of fish that go through this stream" Another angry roar rang in their ears, "Until tomorrow then, Milly" He winked and took off towards the cave.

Milly and Azul met almost every night for months in that clearing without Razen noticing. They had fallen in love and within a few weeks of meeting eachother, they had an egg together, but only one. Milly was no dragon. Her body couldnt handle multiple eggs at once. It wasnt the Big Family Azul wanted but he didnt care about the size of his family anymore. He cherished his and Millys egg, Far much more than he cared about the eggs born by Razen. Azul had finally found his perfect mate. Not with Razen, but with Milly. He built a nest for Milly and their baby in the clearing where they spent time together. he lined the nest with fur from animals he had caught to make it comfortable and placed it in the shallow cave next to the stream. They were happy together and as the hatching time approached, Razen got suspicious of how often Azul was going out "hunting" and not getting fat. So one night she secretly followed Azul. As he arrived in the moonlit clearing, Milly ran to meet him. Razen hid in the bushes watching closely and curiously. Milly was Ecstatic, "AZUL!! It's happening! Our baby is comming out to meet us!" Azul Swished his tail Excitedly and rushed over to the nest with Milly. He held her paw gently as they watched their baby come into the world, This was the best day of Azuls life, and Milly's too. He leaned down and kissed her passionately "I love you Milly. More than the moon and the stars"

From the bushes Razen watched everything. She watched as the half breed child came out of the egg and how much happier Azul was with them that he was with her and her brood. Curiosity turned to Jealousy and Hatred flared up inside her like a fever. *she came bursting out of the bushes, Flames and smoke escaping her mouth. She shot a fireball and his Azul square in the back, sending him into the shallow cave. Stunned he forced himself onto his feet and looked around to find the danger. His eyes widened with horror as he saw Razen advancing on Milly and his new born baby with a look of oure murder on her face. He let out a feirce roar and charged out of the cave and headbutted Razen in the side sending her staggering back. He planted himself between his family and Razen, "Milly!! take the baby and run NOW!" Milly didnt want to leave Azul behind but she did as she was told. She grabbed her baby by the scruff and ran as fast as she could away from the warring dragons. Razen stared after them. Fire seemed to burn in her eyes. Azul roared once more, "Leave them Razen! It's me you want to hurt!" Razen looked at him in disgust and snarled, "Precisely my dearest... AND KILLING THEM IT THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO DO IT!!!" She charged after Milly, Azul trued to intercept her again but she was too fast. She cornered Milly between two giant boulders and opened her mouth to charge up a fireblast. Milly had nowhere to go. she was totally trapped. She turned away from Razen and curled her body around her baby to protect him as much as she could. She prepared herself for the worst when suddenly she was lifted off the ground and she was soaring. was she dead? No Azul had been faster than Razens fireblast and had gotten to milly just in time. Milly looked down and noticed her tail for a little scorched but at least her and her baby were safe. Azul was flying away as fast as he could. They heard an angry screeching roar behind them in the form of a shout, "I WILL FIND YOU AZUL!! YOU AND THAT UGLY FAMILY OF YOURS!!!! AND WHEN I DO, I'LL MAKE SURE YOU WATCH EVERY INCH OF THEM GET SHREDDED APART!!!"

Razen was true to her word. she used her vast family connections in the dragon community to locate Azul and his family and came after them countless times. Eventually Azul and Milly a secretive spot where they could raise their baby in peace. They Named him Spencer. He looked just like his mother and yet oddly resembled his father as well. he had a strange rumor on his chest. Rumor is, his parents love was so deep and pure it was imprinted on him with that birthmark. Even though the family found peace its only temporary. Razen is still out looking for them and will stop at nothing to find them and kill them all... (Fin)
