Depends on how one looks at it. I've seen male fairies on Ferngully, Sesame Street on "Abby's Flying Fairy School" and the Shoe Fairy at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDaszN9ByxM . The concept I'm using matches with 
toddlergirl's illustrations. Perhaps one of those days, Zee-zee could enter as the group's first ever Handsome Fairy.
