Conqure is from a feline alien species akin to the Caitians of Star Trek, "young enough to look good, but old enough to know better." His description was of being uniform beige with a hint of darker pattern, so I extrapolated this to being a very subtle tabby-stripe motif, only noticeable if you can see all of him at once.
