I recently purchased the "SuperChill" from http://ezcooldown.com/
This is not the main Cooling Vest that EZCD markets. I decided to go with the SuperChill as opposed to the Cooling Vest for 2 reasons:
1. Price - the SuperChill is $66 cheaper than the Cooling Vest
2. Cooling power - the SuperChill claims double the cooling power of the Cooling Vest
The 2 main things I worried about when ordering this was the physical size/bulk of it and whether it would actually help keep me cool (and for how long).
Here is what the website says about the SuperChill:
"The SuperChill is a PCM garment designed for costume performers who need extra cooling like mascot performers, plush suiters and costume performers who wear a lot of padding.
The SuperChill comes as two PCM pads with a adjustable Velcro suspension system and needs to be worn under a tight compression shirt such as Lycra or Under Armour Heat Gear to create snug body contact.
With twice the amount of PCM cooling power compared to the Cooling Vest, the SuperChill will definitely add some bulkiness to your character but it will keep you cool and comfortable under the most extreme conditions.
Weight and dimensions (single PCM pad):
3 lb / 1,4 kg - 13″ x 13″ x 1″ / 35 x 35 x 2,5 cm
Effective cooling time: up to 3 hours"
Now, I have had no need to wear it under a compression shirt. I simply wear it over my UnderArmour under the suit. And it WORKS. It basically encases my entire torso in COLD. My suit alone keeps it close enough to my body for me to really feel it.
The first time I wore it under my suit, I went suiting for about 5 hours straight. And according to the weather man, it was an average of 106 degrees Fahrenheit that day. As you can see in the photo, it was still partially frozen even after those 5 hours. HECK YES.
Also in the photos, I tried to show a comparison of with and without it on under the suit. If you are looking for it, you can tell. Tea is a bit more buff in the left photo, but it doesn't make a terribly noticeable difference. Tea is a fairly tight fitting suit on me normally, and I still can wear it comfortably with the SuperChill.
The entire thing weighs about 6 pounds. It feels heavy when you're just holding it, but once I put it on, I don't even notice. It does restrict movement a bit. I can't bend over to get something off the ground as easily, but I can still move enough to dance!
Can people feel it when they hug me? Sure. When it's still frozen (and it says frozen for a LONG time), people say it feels like I have rock hard abs (lol). But I've had a couple people hug me to cool off, and that's pretty awesome.
SO, I definitely recommend the SuperChill. If you have any questions about it, please comment!!

Thanks for this! I am contemplating getting this because i'm getting a fullsuit soon and I live in balmy California.. hehe. Yeah, I may look into this specific vest because the marketed one is .. a little pricey for me! Also since we're rooming together for AZFurCon, would it be too much to ask to just try it on to get an idea if I want one for myself?
