About a decade or more so ago, I used to be a massive Sonic the Hedgehog fan and I created all kinds of fan characters for the Sonic fanfics I was writing. Colton here is a character I created in 2004 for a fic I ended up never writing. I made it to the first chapter and then stopped. However, I did end up drawing his picture and I've still got it on my hard drive. Random bit of trivia, I based his design on one of the dogs that my family owned at the time...a mutt named Max.
Anyway, I imagined him as being an authoritarian, by-the-book style cop, not swayed by bribes and very keen to root out corruption. However, it would earn him the ire of many different people, including corrupt cops and civilians alike. He would have served as something of an obstructionist to my principal fan character Nail Strafer in that fic, and I had the idea of them knowing and hating each other as children. Thus it would make their rivalry somewhat personal. By the end of the story they would have become allies though.
However, for some reason I ended up not liking how Colton turned out. Maybe it's because he feels too much like a stock character in my mind. You know, like how in movies featuring corrupt police there's always that one cop who's determined to stay clean and uphold the law. Colton would have been that guy.
So as a result, he ended up in a Star Fox fic I wrote recently...and was promptly killed off in his introduction scene :) I actually kind of enjoyed killing him off, as gruesome as that is. Like I said, I never really liked this guy much. You can see the Star Fox fic here if you like. Reviews are welcome:

Maybe I shouldn't have read your comments, you just spoiled something I haven't read yet. I believe this is a character I am hearing of for the first time. For a character that was drawn in 2004, it looks like you had a lot of talent even back then. I am not sure if the tail is in the right place, otherwise it is good for what it is.
