As the sun slowly sets he reflects on the freedom the forest gives him, and he hops that it'll still be there tomorrow as he has some primal urges to work out, which might otherwise have been dispensed by the traditions he questions.

As we can see, he doesn't appear to be in any hurry to get home, as he would appear to be happy to please himself until night falls.
