Specimen: Phantom Fungu
World of Origin: Oerth
Few beings have ever seen a phantom fungus and almost never a living specimen as this highly evolved fomitopsis variety of fungal growth is capable of generating a permanent form of improved invisibility throughout its life cycle. A slow and methodical ambush predator capable of sneaking up on most prey animals unnoticed and then clubbing it to death with its fibrous tendrils before consuming it in a manner similar to that of a faunaform being would. Its "gut" is actually a seething mass of hydrogen peroxide and symbiotic fungal "jelly" that it uses to break down flesh, hair, and even bone. While predatory, if the absence of sufficient animal life, it will revert to its primitive ancestors diet of dead wood in order to survive.

You know, for some reason, every time I thinkk back to a "phantom fungus" in my mind and what I've read about them, I keep swearing something said that the damned things were purple... *snofts* I really dunno where I got that now.
Still, I love your art! There seems to be so few actual factual traditional medium artists on here any longer...
