A Gulf & Ohio Railways crew member makes some final adjustments to Southern Railway #154 just prior to departing Knoxville, Tennessee as part of the rarely run "Three Rivers Rambler" excursion service.
A 2-8-0 the locomotive was built in 1890 for the East Tennessee, Virginia & Georgia Railway which would later become the Southern Railway. The engine had a fairly long working life and wasn't retired until the early 1950's when one of her last services was being leased power to the Smokey Mountain Railway in Sevierville, Tennessee. The Southern donated her to the city of Knoxville where she was placed on display in a park. In 2008 the city transferred ownership to the Gulf & Ohio Railway Company for the purposes of restoring the engine to service and use on the cities riverfront.
