Recipe: Homemade Persimmon Salsa!
Thought I'd share this delicious recipe featuring a less than common fruit, the persimmon. It's a really soft, refreshing fruit; with a flavour somewhere between an apple and a peach. Great to nom on a hot summer day, but even better (in my opinion) in a salsa to eat with your favourite crisps (potato chips for you foreign folk. :P)
Recipe:
1 red onion, diced.
1 to 2 fresh jalapenos (depending on size), finely chopped.
Flesh of 2 persimmons, diced.
A sizeable handful of coriander (cilantro) leaves, roughly chopped.
Crack of black pepper.
Juice (and a little of the zest if you like) of 1 lime.
Combine all the solid ingredients, then squeeze over the lime juice. Simple!
Enjoy. <3

This wuff has seen them, but their "season" seems to be relatively short. At least as far as supplies here in Colorado go. And, unfortunately, wuff wasn't always in a "persimmon mood" for the period they were available.
But definitely going to make sure to get enough to try this, next time they show up on the produce shelves.
