The castell del Montrgí (or in english, the castel of Montgrí) is an unfinished castle from the XIII°-XIV° centuries located on the Montgrí, a little limestone mountain of 315m, in the Empordà, a region of Catalonia, Spain.
This castle was ordered by Jaime II de Mallorca (James II of Majorca), the King of Majorca, in 1294 for survey the activities in a period of great tension between the county of Empordà and the one of Empùries. But, in 1301, the construction is interrupted because of the consolidation of the county of Barcelona against the county of Empùries. Finally, the Castel of Montgrí is abandoned in 1472.
