Tyrannosaurus rex. The king (and queen) of the dinosaurs, name meaning "tyrant lizard king". Lived at the end of the Mesozoic era, in the Cretaceous, 68-65 million years ago. The skull of Tyrannosaurus rex was probably the strongest out of all dinosaurs, and could crush bone. Every part of the Tyrannosaurus rex was built for crushing its prey, even the tiny arms, which have been ridiculed, yet are still unimaginably strong for their size.
Tyrannosaurus rex was discovered by Barnum Brown in 1903, and named by Henry Fairfield Osborn in 1905. There has been much controversy surrounding Tyrannosaurus rex, such as with the specimen dubbed Sue and where she was found, and whether or not Tyrannosaurus was a scavenger or a predator. Rest assured, however, that Tyrannosaurus rex was a fearsome predator.
