Made using Metasynth to complete tomorrow's assignment. Very fun synth program, this one. The sound files took two hours to compile, and arranging them in Digital Performer took about 30 minutes since I didn't have longer time to spend. It shows, I'm sure. :P
Think of all sorts of literally electrically charged gecko shapes zooming across your desktop/laptop as you listen. Just be warned, this is pretty strange, even for me, so don't blame me if it's not your bag of Bach and Green Day. :P
Dedicated to
Owen because it makes me think of a situation for which his futuristic fursona might be best suited.

Actually this piece has a lot of elements that are musical. It's in rondo form, follows a melodic contour, has variations in the different sound samples I used, is polyphonic, uses Exponential scale tuning similar to Ligeti, etc. etc.
My inspiration for this piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71hNl_skTZQ
Don't be so quick to judge what is musical and what isn't. :P

Rondo form = ABACA
The melody has a shape.
I vary the sounds.
There are multiple melodies (A melody doesn't need to have pitch)
I can't really explain exponential tuning unless I throw a lot of math into it. Just take my word for it.
Ligeti is awesome.
It's musical. So there. :P

You mean the Lament of Ahania? Nah, he used acoustic and electronic feedback as the basis for his work. Compiled it through tape track transfer and distortion equipment, which takes an UNGODLY amount of patience and effort compared to the relatively short time it took to mix all this silly stuff. o..o
I know I just got done making a post but as much I do agree with what I said this is still considered music its just something we are not used to listing to. I just met a wonderful talent young Man that does art makes music and sows. He quote what may sound or looks good dose not make it easy to do. So what I am trying to say is that ya it sounds like he puled these sounds out of his A&$ but to make it sound good is harder to do. This is why I consider this music even though some people are maybe thinking this probable would be easy but its not. What I consider easy and I consider not music is (I think the peace is called 3min of dead silence.) Ask the Gecko if this is the right or not.
Actually, Metroid pulled together similar sound arrangements in the non-music areas. This sounds right at home with a Metroid game...it's quite unsettling, like it's creating a tense moment. Knowing how much you like Metroid, I can't help but wonder if you garnered some inspiration there. :3
Believe or not, I like this. I'd call it more ambiance than music, but I understand enough about music to realize it qualifies for both terms. =P Only part I didn't like was the harsh sound at 0:32 - 0:33...it was a bit out-of-place with its level of intensity compared to the rest of the song, and kinda made me jump. ^^;;

Heh, thanks. :) I actually wasn't thinking of Metroid when I wrote this, but that's a good analogy to the game. Very ambient indeed, though would you believe I barely used any reverb at all in this? Unlike me, isn't it? ;) *licks* The fact that you jumped at that harsh "ENEMY SWOOP AT UR HEAD AND GO BITE" sound was actually sort the of reaction I was hoping to get out of a listener, namely the idea that you have to dodge or get hit by something that comes out of nowhere, much like it would in a Metroid game now that I think about it. ;) And really, I think the insect screeches from 1:30-1:40 are meant to be the climactic moment of the piece, so to speak, being in the thick of the gecko fray. Oh, but I'm sure you'd hate to be surrounded by lusty geckos wanting to drain your energy. ;)
