I love traditional inking, especially using brushwork. Very nice job.

Your inking skill has always amazed me. Thank you for this pic because it makes me want to pick up traditional brushing.

Do you use sumi brushes? What would you recommend for someone wanting to pick this up? Any books or other artists to look at?

I have some sumi brushes. But I usually use a brush by Winsor Newton.its a 2 series 7 Finest Sable Winsor & Newton -England. I should warn you, A sable is a small animal that they use for the brush hair. If your not in to having produces made from animals, Winsor Newton also makes artificial brushes which are just as good and less money. I really can't sagest any books because I'm primarily a self taught inker. There is a pretty good one by a comic inker named Klaus Jason. But it's Best to try it out on your own. books can't really teach you brush control. Inking with the brush in the beginning is difficult but if you keep at it you will get better at it. I still make mistakes. hope that helps :)

Holy hell, dude, you did an amazing amount of work for a simple banner. To say I'm impressed and floored would be an understatement.

these are my usual steps. I always like to have a map before I start walking in a direction you know :) Great job on the text by the way :)

Finding a color that stood out and was simple enough to compliment the rest of the image was a little harder than it should have been. Simplicity worked in the end. =)

Hey, man, I didn't know who was doing the banner this month, but I can honestly say that your work more than deserves to be featured for the month up there! =) I can't wait to see what you did with the colors, even though *sniff* it'll mean that mine's coming down. =) Good work, and a worthy 'adversary' for Pirate Fender. ^__^

I have to ditto Nevar, I'm ecstatic to see you were given a round on the banner this month. The inking is fantastic, and I'll definately have to look into a copy of that book myself.

You definitely put a lot into it I thought it looked like asian style ink brush work... very impressive. I hope some point might be asked to do the banner work. Yours definitely has much merit :)
