This is a story idea that popped into my head while I was at work, so I thought I would share it. This is the small introduction section. I haven't started writing it yet, since I still have Wolfen to finish.
Anyway, the general story is that this immortal creature has been alive since the beginning of the world, but now in the 2000s, he just wants to end his life. The world has become evil and harsh and he is a monster in their eyes. There seems to be nothing left for him to live for.
So, that's about it. I haven't done much planning, but I think it could turn out pretty interesting. So here is the small introduction segment:
Immortal - Chapter 0
Long ago, Mother Earth lived alone on her planet. It all belonged to her. She was happy for a while, but because she lived completely by herself, lonliness overcame her. So she set out to create something to keep her company.
She created many bugs, fish, and animals and spread them around the world. The addition made her world so much more beautiful, but they could not satisfy her longing. She made one last thing, she called it “human.” It grew up with her and lived in harmony with nature, but it, too, wanted more companions.
Not seeing anything wrong with his request, she created more humans, and they lived together happily. She loved the humans more than anything. They were her one perfect creation. Or so she thought.
One day, a tiger wandered into their camp and a young child wanted to play with it. The child ran to the tiger, but it was scared. It leaped at the child and was going to kill it when one of the full-grown humans killed it with a stone just in time.
When Mother Earth saw this, she became sad, but what happened next was even worse. The humans took the tigers body, cut its skin off and used it for clothes. Then they stripped the flesh off its bones, burnt it with fire, and ate it. This disturbing act of violence was only the start. It became a way of life for them. To kill her creations for their comfort. They even started tearing down her trees to make shelters.
This destruction of her world was unacceptable. She had to do something to stop it. She needed something to protect it. Something even greater than the humans. So she made the Protector.
She spent more time on him than she had with any of her other creations. She wanted him to be absolutely perfect. His body was covered with gold and silver fur that glimmered in the light as it swayed in the wind. His eyes were like emeralds. His ears were tall and he had a strong snout, like that of a wolf. Mother Earth was proud of her creation. The beauty of this creature was like nothing this world had ever had.
She gave him eternal life so that he could stay with the world and guide it forever. He was immortal. She sent him among the humans to stop this constant violence against her planet, but unfortunately, even the Protector turned away from her.
Though the humans began obeying his orders and peace was restored for a while, the Protector became obsessed with his superiority. He didn’t want to protect the world. He wanted to rule it. Anyone who defied him was killed on the spot. The world became a more violent and cold place than it was before.
Furious and sorrowful, Mother Earth took the Protector, stripped him of his beauty, leaving his fur dull and lifeless, sealed him in a cave, and vanished. The Protector remained trapped in the cave for several months; starving, thirsty, cold, and weak. He promised Mother Earth that if he made it out of here, he would not go back to the way he was before. He would change and help the world like he was made to.
Finally, a few humans from a nearby village found the cave and unsealed to entrance and found him there. Not knowing of his past evil deeds, they took him home and restored his strength. He lived with them in harmony for several years. He became part of their family.
But it was reported to the king that he was living there. So the king sent his soldiers to capture him. When they arrived, they hid the Protector from them. The soldiers stormed through the village, going through everything, but they could not find him. They were furious that they couldn’t find them. In their anger, they struck down every one of the villagers.
The Protector left his hiding place and saw all the dead bodies of the ones he loved. He called earnestly for Mother Earth to help him. To bring back those innocent lives, but there was no response. And he knew now, that Mother Earth had abandoned this world. She had abandoned him.
