Two Years Progress!
Coming up on two years since I started my #journey to get fit again. I was 35lbs heavier than I am now and seriously depressed.
The first change came before the first picture getting rid of wheat two years prior getting wheat/gluten out of my diet. Then came #Zombie5K Runs around the apartment complex. It's terrifying having #zombies in your ear buds mind you... A month or two later one of my good friends gave me a workout I could do on my own in my apt and in January 2014 I started #crossfit at #crossfittrilogy. I couldn't have asked for better coaches in J&M Condis, not to mention friends, and support. Between that and a MUCH better set of eating habits I'm finally living in the body I've worked towards for years. Even 8th grade me would be jealous!
I'd been scared to do another progress shot cause I was scared I wouldn't see a change or wouldn't like the change I saw. As always my self doubt was very wrong! Here's looking to a future if continued activity, adventure and health!

Uhm.....gluten should really be eaten unless you have a gluten intolerance. It isn't bad to remove it, but it isn't great either. [That is just from a pure biological perspective]
This is not saying I am not incredibly happy for you, because I am, I just don't buy some of these "fad" diets with gluten free eating and doing super intense workouts. But it is kind of whatever works so long as you are all in healthy ranges according to your PCP.

I removed gluten from my diet for an intolerance reason.
-severe depression
-weight gain
-acid pain in joints
-"chicken skin" on arms and legs
-upset stomach and Bowels because of it that gave extreme diarrhea and gas.
-in ability it understand language. (foggy headed, misinterpretation of sarcasm, increase in dyslexia with numbers)
That shit is poison to me. And I suffered for years not knowing what it was from.
I did not do this for a fad or a diet. I did it because it made me depressed enough to want to kill myself and affected my body and mental health in the above ways.

Which is fine, but that doesn't seem like Celiac disease. At least the way I remember it.
Also it wasn't indicated that the removal was for the actual digestive and subsequent problems and it seemed like it was simply for personal preference. So I apologize if I came off wrong.

The removal was for digestive issues as well as the sluggishness, pain, and depression that my body dealt with. What aggravates the ship out of me is that even if it was "personal preference" or starting it on a whim cause I didn't have any money to go to a doctor to check and was constantly sick and couldn't figure out why, that my own findings, and my own results aren't good enough. That if it's personal preference because I don't have a Celiac stamp of approval on a piece of paper because I didn't let them go in for a colon sample, because I had already found out, if I don't eat this shit, NY entire being is BETTER for it, that it's just part of a fad, or a trend.
Yes, it did come off wrong and I appreciate the apology. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad that I feel I (or anyone) has to feel like they need to defend the decisions they've made and thrived from it, if it's not directly from a doctor.
And yes there's a difference from Celiac and gluten intolerance. My body simply won't process it and I get a great deal of the affects therein which align with an allergic reaction. After all the body is one big chemistry thing and people seem to not understand that. Nor do they seem to make the simple jump that people say, "cooking is chemistry." well, yes it is, and then you're adding that to your own chemistry in your body. Because every body is different sometimes there are going to be different affects. Wheat and gluten affects my brain, and my gut. I've proven it through testing. Just because it wasn't done in a lab doesn't mean it shouldn't be valid. (sorry, rant. Again not mad at you just sorely aggravated at being tagged for a fad when I did it for health)

Oh, again, I simply misunderstood. I just know a lot of people who removed gluten because (insert nonscientific founded reason here) and they feel better which is likely a result of the placebo effect versus the actual removal of gluten.
Even for a lactose intolerance there are tests to confirm it, so I just put a lot of stock in actual results versus people just believing something. Biology relies on chemistry, and thus why psych meds are a huge shot in the dark sometimes.
The one I have learned is that if believe you are sick you will get sick from the mind having a lot of influence on your well-being (you is used generally here, not directly).
Favorite line of a channel on YouTube I watch. "To the research" and that is just from me being a scientist and a bit of a skeptic at times. :P

I'm interested in this "its terrifying to have zombies in your earbuds".
Tell me more?
Did it cause nightmares later?
Is it simething you download to an ipod and just run while listening to?
:* Also.
How do you feel physically? :D You look great! <3 I think its super cool that youve kept your journey documented and on track. I havent been able to so far. I get discouraged and terribly fatigued- so bad that somedays I sleep for 18+ hours because i have a hard time moving. (Im pretty sure the fatigue is related more to an underlying/untreated illness than to my actual physical activity)

Zombies, Run! <--- is an app that kickstarted a couple of years back and is available on both android and iPhone. It's an amazing audio interactive story that helps you train and slowly build up your endurance. They also have a program called Zombie 5K which is akin to a couch to 5K program. It's also intuitive enough of a program that you could start off at a slow walk, and go to a brisk walk in order to get away from the chasing zombies. Yes I checked this method as I wanted to know just how user friendly it was.
I personally never got nightmares from using the program and greatly enjoy running the story again and again.
Physically I feel amazing, confident, energized and whole.

For those interested I'm currently taking a "poll" in my journal and looking to start a Forum for people to come check in, make goals for fitness and health and work towards them. If you're interested let me know! I think this could be a great way for people to get that kick in the butt that they need!
Whooo lady! Good job =]
I need t start working out but I'm stuck in the start position! I hate going to the gym and our house is always so hot. Running is difficult for me because my cardio / lung power is non-existent (it kind of always has been though) so progress always seems so slow. Pretty just excuses...maybe I should listen to the Shia LaBeouf "just do it" speech again lol.

Being aware of things like your arms not yet being strong enough is good to know though, AND looking to find or having assistance finding "scaled" movements that you can do to help work towards and build the strength to do the movements that are "required." :)
Would love to have you on board!
