I wanted to post this last night, but felt like what I had to say wasn't meaningful enough... If you didn't know already, Sammy,  FoxHolliday  DJSammehfox passed away July 5th. I knew of Sammy only through her art and online presence, had been watching her art here and on DeviantArt since about 2009. She had followed my twitter with her old twitter account (I now regret having never followed back) but I did not ever have the opportunity to meet her in person.

On the afternoon of July 5th I watched as so many of my friends who were mutual friends of Sammy react to the news, and it quickly became clear what a special personality she was. Someone who always put her friends needs first, who had the brightest smile on her face in every photo her friends shared with each other in her memory that afternoon. The Mystery Skulls song lyrics atop her FA profile page seem to say it best, she chose those lyrics not arbitrarily, but because they were obviously important to her. Friends were important to her.

After seeing the outpouring of love on my twitter feed for Sammy much of Sunday evening, kind words and tribute art from her friends and even complete strangers, I decided that I should try my hand at doing some art for Sammy as well. I really hope I captured her smile.

Sammy is just the kind of person you wish you would have had the opportunity to get to know when you see what an impact they've had on the lives of others. Maybe you know someone like Sammy? Let them know how special they are, and how much they mean to you, life is short and you never know what tomorrow might bring. Tell someone that you appreciate them while you have the fortune to do so.
