You know what the issue is here. The one item that we saw of his in action (the pistol) worked just as he said it would so we have no reason to believe that any of the other things he's presenting here are fake or false. The big guy could have just given up a really valuable find because he went to a trade show with no intention of trading.

I should clarify, the previous page Farron was putting out his absolute best items - which is why he was becoming increasingly nervous the more times he got turned down. The final item he pulled out - wasn't really his best, more so for the distraction so he could steal the gem.
He really did legit try though.

As for how he stole it, he's very good at the slight of hand. Given his history with Dante in his younger years as a thief.
