2D shooters where once all the rage back during the 80s and 90s, sadly it seems this genre has all but died out in the the U.S. So here is a tribute to the glory days of shooters with my 3 favorite shooter series in one pic.^^

I forgot to say that in Zone of the Enders there was a Transforming Vic Viper type unit as a "guest" boss with all of the Vic Viper's weapon options :o
Also the Einhander Crimson Version Rocked but had to beat the game on hard mode with Less than 2 continues for 9999 ammo on all weapons >:)

Some great choices here. Sadly there aren't too many in the genre that stand out. The most well known games being Gradius and R-Type. But I'm a Gradius fan so I always take that route. Your depiction of the Viper is nice, based on a certain incarnation?
As for the others, it's nice to see some attention to some of the lesser known ones.
