Coffee is the lifeblood that fuels the body of young cheetahs such as myself. Or at least, that's the rationalization I give myself every time I see just how much money I spend on coffee. The drinking of coffee, especially in a coffee shop, is a social experience. It really is. Many a conversation and ideas were made between people in the presence of coffee shops. Which is why when my leopard friend, Therris, visited we had to visit the local coffee shop.
In hindsight, though. Perhaps that wasn't such a good idea. I mean, it wasn't a bad time at all, don't get me wrong. He and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves that day. It was just the other people there that didn't seem to be enjoying it that much. It wasn't our fault, though. I mean...it was...but...okay, we got a little carried away.
So a paw loving chee and a paw loving leopard walk into a coffee shop, order coffee and muffins, and then one thing happened and then another, and it seemed like a really good idea at the time, so we licked each others' paws. We're cats, okay. It's not that abnormal to groom each other. Right? Okay, so maybe that's something that shouldn't be done in a place where others are eating and drinking, because everyone was staring and such.
But hey, it all turned out good in the end. The coffee was tasty, and the muffins certainly were good as well, our paws were clean, and the coffee shop didn't ban us after that.
10 / 10, would recommend this shop.
Okay disclaimer, don't actually do this in coffee shops in real life. I'm pretty sure licking feet in coffee shops is a health code violation or something. Okay? Okay, good.
So, this was an extremely fun commission to get with my friend Neuro. As you can tell from the icon I've had on here for, like, a year now, I love paws. And so does my friend. So over the course of our chats, it was mentioned numerous times "hey, we should get a commission...and it should be about paws". And so we were brainstorming ideas.
Eventually, we got the idea of something where our characters are in a coffee shop, and they decide to lick each others' paws. I loved the idea, and we even thought of having background characters looking surprised or weirded out at what our characters were doing just to make the picture idea more fun.
Then the question became who to commission for such a piece. We bounced artist names around, and eventually we realized the best artist would be Flaredra (who is now known as Citrinelle). So when she opened up for commissions, we presented our idea to her, and she was gracious enough to use some of her and her friends' characters to populate the background.
She did an outstanding job with this commission. Neuro's character and my character were drawn very well in this. However, what really sells this is the reactions from the background character. She nailed it with their expressions. It was pretty much exactly like how I was hoping it would be when I commissioned her. Two furry characters licking paws can make for a fun picture on its own, but add in those background characters and suddenly you have a story you can tell about it. So that's what I really love about this picture.
So thank you very much to Citrinelle for making this fantastic picture. And thanks to Neuro for getting a commission with me! You're a good friend.
