As you asked for critique I guess just maybe make the pixels less straight and increase the softness (don't really know how you can achieve this with pixel art, change some line colours maybe to be more fleshy?), good effort for a first try though, looks very comfy.
The frog was by far my favorite =D I kinda like the centipede too, but I love the frog the most.
Actually there are some really amazing gameplay features in there once you dig around and explore it a bit. It could have been very cool... with some proper level design... but... alas... all anyone plays it for is to get eaten =(
