For
Thetakogun !
Thetakogun was generous enough to commission me for this character design, and asked for something like Dronsea.
Being that Dronsea is a hybridization of several different carnivorous plants, Ilex is only a mild hybridization- and their differences are apparent.
Ilex turned out to be a pretty little thing. Her horns are fallow deer base, and more birch then holly oak; though. Her leaves are a bit more sparse, on her spine, neck and tail tip, and over knuckles.
Thorns cover hips, shoulders, along her neck- these are slightly protections, and while not sharp, they are rigid.
Her bark covers her feet, back, and back of elbows, and along her cheeks.
Nails are retractable, though kept long.
Eyes are blind, as all of my plant gals are.
However, all of these things are changeable.
Thank you so much

Goodness~ She turned out lovely!
The horns, while more substantial that I had in mind, definitely suit her quite well. And I love the addition of the moss to them! The thorns are interestingly placed and make very nice accents, as does the venation down the front of her torso~ The trail of leaves down the spine looks really awesome, and the bark placement is nifty too! Especially that adorable patch across her nose. ^-^
I don't think I'd keep her blind, but I do like the aesthetic to the eyes. I figure plant-based eyes would use different biological principals than animal eyes do to function anyways, so it makes sense they'd look different.
The retractable nails are an interesting idea! Makes a lot of sense for her, considering some of the back-story I had to the character in my own world-setting. Would it be possible to add a hand-view with the nails retracted to the sheet? Just so that other artists don't have guess what they'd look like in future commissions. ^^;
Overall though, I'm very happy with how this turned out! Thank you so much once again~

I absolutely can. I can shorten the nails on the turn around instead, or I can copy and alter the hand there. Whatever you'd like!
No need to keep her blind- and if you have another eye color you'd like better, I can change it. :)
I'm glad you like it! I'm actually extremely fond of this gal.

Hm~ In that case, would it be too much of a problem to do both? I've learned over time that small details and variations for character reference sheets should be repeated, otherwise they're easy to miss. ^^;;
As for the eyes, they're perfect the way they are. The yellow/green color looks very good on her~ ^_^
I was already very fond of the character in my head, but the more I look at this, the more excited I am to see her come to life! Hopefully she'll be getting more artistic attention soon, as I can't wait to commission more of her.
Oh, and one other thing I almost forgot! Do you think you could add in a set of simple flat-color swatches off to the side? Just so that her coloring stays consistent regardless of who's drawing her in the future. (And because I've run into several artists that don't like working from shaded references without them. ^^; )

Oh, that's because FA automatically re-sizes down to 1280x1280 max resolution when you first upload. =P But it won't resize if you replace the file later, even if you do so right after the initial submission. Kind of a silly system to be honest, but whatever.
And you as well! ^_^
