Ten years ago:
Leif sat at the monitor, looking at his depressed ex-boyfriend on the other side. They were currently separated by several thousand light-years away as Tylis was still deployed out in the Traverse. He was on a separate assignment at the time that Leif’s ship was destroyed by the pirate fleet. Currently, he and a cabal task force were hunting down the remaining ships that had scattered after the death of their captain. He wasn’t allowed to go to Leif’s side at the citadel because then the Hierarchy would have to publicly recognize the existence of an intentionally uninterrupted relationship between a group that was against regulation: cabals and normal troops. Both were absolutely pissed about the issue, and this was the first time they were allowed to speak in months. Over that time, Leif admitted to one thought that was on his mind the entire time.
“Ty, I think we need to break up.” Leif said with a heavy sigh after they gave the arbitrary “how are you” and “what have you been up to.” They both had been expecting this conversation since their separation because of their distance, the trauma Leif went through, and the small arguments they’ve been having even before the event.
“Right…yeah, okay.” Ty said, clenching his fist on the table before him. Now he really wanted to go kill those bastards that did this to Leif. They quickly both agreed to be only friends from now on, and kept in contact since then. However, Leif wouldn’t see him in person for a very long time.
…
“What the fuck you mean you ate him?!” An aggravated parent shouted at Leif, who had swallowed the person in question in the previous week. Leif felt guilt and fear at the mother’s reaction. This was why he never agreed to meet these people in person.
“Well, we met at the coffee shop and we talked, and then I ate him. It was what he wanted ma’am; he asked me to come here to let you know that!” Leif said as calmly as he could in response to the woman’s outcry.
“Bullshit! He had a full ride to the university! He wouldn’t waste that opportunity.” She said, reaching for her omnitool to call c-sec.
“He told me to tell you his first hamster’s name was Mjolnir and that your nickname for his aunt was Cunthrine instead of Kathrine to prove that he went willingly.” The woman was flustered and fuming. Leif continued.
“I’m also offering financial compensation for the loss of your son. Please accept-”
“You taking the piss!? Financial compensation?! Fuck off!” She said and slammed the door. Leif sighed and left a small note with his contact information by the door in the form of a datapad sized for humans he had ready in case she changed her mind and turned around to leave, only to bump in to an effeminate looking turian.
“Oh, um sorry I-”
“I swear to the spirits that if either one of us says the ‘fancy bumping into you here’ joke I’m dropping a grenade!” the turian said. Leif took a moment to recognize him.
“Tylis? What are you doing here?” Leif asked, shock in his voice as his old friend was a comforting sight. They moved in for a friendly hug and patted each other on the back.
“Oh, well since I left the military, I’ve been in between jobs and places.” Ty said, and at that moment, Leif noticed the luggage cases that he was carting around with him. He saw some fatigue in Ty’s arms. Apparently, Ty has had a rough time finding places.
“Oh… you had luck with that? You don’t look like you’re at 100% at the moment.” Leif said.
“Well, I’ve had to skip a couple of meals, and not many buisnesses are open to hiring a biotic right now.” He said shrugging. “Unlike you apparently. You got some brain food in there?” Ty said, patting Leif’s stomach, which Leif quickly swatted away.
“If you need a place to stay, I’ve got the mansion and it has plenty of room for you.” Leif glanced around at Ty’s head in an exaggerated gesture. “If you can fit that through the door that is.”
“Very funny. I was going to ask if I could, but I didn’t want to make it hard for you and any other guys that you might be with now up there.” Ty said, now expressing some relief at the idea he had an actual place to stay tonight, and in a mansion no less!
“Well, I don’t have any guys up there, but my girlfriend Ester lives with me.” Leif said.
“Wait…you’re not gay?” Ty said with some legitimate surprise.
“What? Of course not! I had sex with you didn’t I?” Leif said. Did Ty really think he was only into men this whole time?
“What are you talking about? I’m trans but I identify as male!” Ty said with a little chuckle.
“Yeah, but no gay guy would have sex with a person with a… erm…”
“Vagina? You sure you’re not gay?” Ty said with some snark in his voice.
“Well I just didn’t want to say it out right!” Leif defended himself. “It would be a lot less confusing if you just got the surgery.”
“I can’t, it just doesn’t feel right, you know that.” Ty said, humorlessly. Leif nodded in acceptance and called for Mycroft to pick them up to take them back to the mansion.
…
They arrived at Leif’s home later in the day, after running some errands, particularly getting the biotic something to eat finally and some clean clothes. Ty joked about which dressing room to use frequently, annoying Leif with the borderline idiotic puns he associated with their predicament. Eventually, they decided on a simple coat and pants. Leif stood in the doorway as Ty followed, dragging his bags behind him while he waited for the door to digitally unlock. With a click, it swung open and Ester greeted the duo.
“Hey sweetie. Whose your friend?” She asked as she took the bags from Leif and carried it to table nearby.
“Oh! Sorry Ester, I forgot to tell you that we were having company.” Leif said, gesturing to Ty. “This is an old military friend of mine, Cabal Tylis Mesque.”
“Well it’s always nice to meet some of Leif’s friends.” She said, holding a cautious hand out to shake. Meanwhile, she was curious about his status as a cabal. She had little opportunity to observe biotic turians, so she scanned him. She found the predicted results of a biotic, but found one additional result that was unexpected. Ty is a woman? Ester thought to herself.
“Please, call me Ty. Leif’s told me that you’re his mate?” Ty said, taking Esters hand in the shake with a strong grip.
“Oh, yes… erm, why don’t we help you move your stuff then, since you’re staying with us? I’ll take you to a guest room.” Ester waved and walked into the hallway and up some stairs, leading to another room, decorated in a lavish bed with satin sheets. It was large, plush, and elicited a chuckle from Ty. There were also pieces of abstract art on the wall with purple primary colors, and it also had a computer terminal on a desk nearby.
“All that money making you soft Leif?” Ty said, swinging the case onto the bed and opening it to reveal some clothes that he began to unpack.
“Yeah, but it’s gonna make you soft too soon.” Leif said as he grunted moving the other luggage. “What the hell’s in here anyway?” Leif laid the pack down and began unzipping it. Ester scanned it as well, and almost gasped, taking a defensive posture and reaching into a nearby panel that was hidden. She’d installed it a long time ago to hide a weapon in case of an emergency.
“Oh shit, Leif don’t open that!” Ty said as he rushed forward, just as Leif was opening it. His sudden movement was misinterpreted by Ester who drew the gun, a suppressed pistol when Leif saw the contents. The luggage was filled with compressed weapons, including assault rifles, high powered marksman weapons, and shotguns of various sorts. Ty jumped back at Ester’s gun while Leif sighed and shrugged at the sight.
“Damn it Ty, did you have to bring your whole gun collection with you? We don’t even have anything besides Mycroft’s in this house!” Leif said, frustrated. He then noticed Ty’s scared look and turned around to see Ester aiming over his shoulder, with a wide eyed look of embarrassment when she realized what this actually was,
“Oh Spirits! Ester, where did you get that!?” Leif said, grabbing the pistol from her hand to disarm her before something bad happened.
“Well, I thought we’d need something in case of an emergency!” She said. Leif sighed again and checked the weapon, removing the thermal clip and handing it back to Ester.
“This is one weird day.” He muttered. “Relax Ty, sweetie here is just a little precautious.”
“I’ll say.” He grumbled as he closed the pack, the adrenaline wearing down.
Leif paced around in silence for a minute as the gut wrenching tension eased in the room. He then signaled Mycroft to the room with his omnitool.
“It’s dinner time in a few hours, why don’t you just finish unpacking while I go order something. Mycroft will take your weapons down to the garage and put them in a locker for safety.” Leif said to Ty with a cool head.
“Leif don’t worry, I don’t mind keeping them in here.”
“That’s why they’re going in the garage.”
“Aw, let me keep one up here at least! Don’t want your girlfriend shooting me in the face after all!” Ty said, holding that over their heads.
“Sorry about that Ty.” Ester interjected, truly apologetic.
“It’s fine Ester.” Ty said. Leif gave a dismissive wave as Ty eagerly dug into the bag, pulling out a compact shotgun and hiding it under the bed as Leif left. Ester quickly followed him into their room.
…
“Leifkin, I’m sorry about the pistol okay?”
“Agh, it’s fine honey, I just wish you told me about it sooner.” Leif said, opening a small cabinet to reveal a bottle of brandy and fancy crystalline glasses. He began to pour two glasses.
“If I did then you would have said no.” She stated simply.
“Probably, but it’s your choice now. You’re a grown woman who can make decisions.” He said, handing the glass to Ester and they clinked them together in silent cheers. “Besides, there is something that I should tell you too… Ty and I used to be together.” Leif admitted, a little tense at the reveal.
“…and?” Ester asked, wondering its significance.
“Well, I just don’t want you to feel uncomfortable that my ex is here!”
“Oh, don’t worry, I have no reason to not trust you. Besides, I can’t actually feel jealousy! I deactivated that emotion.”
“Well, good, I guess. I know that he may seem a little…weird.”
“I wanted to ask about him! I scanned him earlier and…he’s a she?” Ester asked, confused by the pronouns. She’d heard of trans individuals, but never met one, or at least didn’t know as it was now common to easily get your sex changed now a days.
“Yeah, he simply doesn’t want to get that change. It happened sometimes. He told me it was an… instinct?” Leif said, trying to remember that particular instance.
“You organics and your ability to differ your metaphysics with your reality… It’s very strange!” She said. Leif shrugged in response, reaching over to Ester’s hip and gripping on it sensually.
“Well, you identify as a woman, despite your pronoun being “it”. And you are a beautiful woman at that!” Leif nuzzled into her neck with a chuckle. In response, Ester smiled and straddled his middle as he sat on the bed, her knees sank into the cushioned couch as her pelvis rubbed against his.
“Flatterer, you need to order dinner, not tease your partner!” She said, beginning to stroke at his defined chest. “But we can certainly…eat out later.” She said with a wink.
“Oh you naughty android! Leif said lifting her up and setting her down as they began to kiss, Leif pressing his tongue into her mouth as she did the same. They separated and gave a good look into each other’s eyes before Leif went to call in dinner.

Jason couldn’t believe his luck. He’d volunteered that day to be part of someone’s meal at the Citadel Café, yet it was relatively slow. No one seemed to be interested in having a human prey tonight, which progressively made him feel sad by it all. However, there was a call order and it seemed that he was going to be with it tonight! He sat in a waiting chair as the cooks prepared the food. The giant aliens bustled around him, making what appeared to be various soups, and other food items. They all had a simple tracked expression on their faces, none giving him much regard despite the fact that he would be digested inside an alien soon. Any glance resembled that of which one would give to another ingredient of the meal for the people tonight. This made him realise that this is exactly what he was: another chunk of meat in the meal for these aliens. The though was a welcome one, as he resigned himself to his fate as food.
…
The bell rang and everyone in the house understood what had arrived. They were all watching vids in the living room, despite the fact that Ester had already seen the whole show over the internet. She was watching something else at the moment, a sitcom. Leif stood up and went to the door, taking the sack and paying for all the food. He returned to the room as a character on the show was crying out in pain from a gunshot wound. Ester busted out from laughter and went on for a minute. Both Leif and Ty looked at Ester with a sort of horror.
“I… um… I just… remembered, er, a joke! Yeah! An old joke!” Ester tried to dismiss it.
“Spirits you’re strange Ester.” Ty said, standing up to join everyone at the table.
…
Jason sat on the table, remaining silent as the titans resumed their meal around him. They would tell several jokes and began to grow closer to each other. He caught the names of every one of the turians. The two males were named Leif and Ty, or was it Tylis? Made sense. The other was Ester. He could easily tell that Ty was the odd one in this set. They talked about old stories and it seemed that he had a lot to tell. Many were about his escapades in the military. Must be where he was all that time. It was all to distract from the obvious thing before him. His plate was before the purple marked turian with curved markings. Next to him was a bowl of ramen. It was obvious where he was going this evening. He watched as Leif would shovel mouthfuls of the ramen and vegetables, moaning in appreciation and occasionally sipped at a bottle of sake to go with the Japanese meal. He was on his fourth glass now.
…
“Suhh, what was that one thing abet…butts?” Leif slurred. At this point, the alcohol from the hot drink (served at 98 degrees Fahrenheit, after all, he wasn’t a barbarian) was certainly taking effect on the turian. Meanwhile, Ty was avoiding the drink while Ester simply ignored its effects.
“Leif, it was called Uranus. Seriously, how is that a joke to you! It doesn’t even translate to the thing that’s supposed to be funny to us properly. It’s only for English speakers!”
“Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhutthafuckup….TY!” Leif said in a drunken laugh, simply reaching forward and grabbing the human, moving him into his mouth and closing his jaws around the human morsel. Leif moaned as he enjoyed the taste of the human. Of course, he was too drunk to appreciate it entirely and swiftly swallowed.
…
Jason slid into the heated stomach, splashing into the brothy, liquidy, and fermented smelling stomach. He almost gagged at the way it all smelled. It was powerful and he breathed lightly. He looked at the slowly pulsing, purple stomach walls. Everything growled and gurgled around him and he smiled at his fate. He was simply food, and this turian viewed as nothing else. It was muggy and humid in Leif as well. The juices bubbled and the slop around him was impossible to see through. Mushed up noodles churned around him with each pulse in the purple muscle. This would continue to stew around him as everything vanished into a sludge, including Jason himself.
…
“And so boom! Right on the latrines! The whole camp smelled for weeks!” Ty shouted, full of energy. Everyone busted out into laughter and they all cackled, Leif in particular since he had no real idea what was going on. All the food was gone and several sake bottles were now empty. Leif moaned in his chair and leaned towards Ester.
“Honeh… I’mh suh drunk right naw, I cahnt…fet eatin yah out in tha night...schedule…” With that, his head slammed slammed into the table and he became unconscious. Ty’s jaw was dropped and he laughed loudly.
“Well, looks like the night is dying down, we better get him in bed. I’ll get the left side.” And with that, they carried Leif to his bed and Ester laid down next to him. Ty went to his own bed and fell fast asleep in the soft bed. Ester laid next to Leif, smiling and deactivating her olfactory sensors due to his unpleasant halitosis.
Also, drunk Leif makes another appearance! WOOT I know all you guys love him so here yah go.

Ty went to his own bed and fell fast asleep in the soft bed. Ester laid next to Leif, smiling and deactivating her olfactory sensors due to his unpleasant halitosis.

A-a-a-a-and... Tylis is awesome. Say what you will, but I think he's really cool. And despite my... uhm... leanings I would totally not mind becoming his meal. Something for me to think about, I suppose.
The conversations were awkward, but in a good 'I-think-that's-what-you-were-trying-to-do' sort of way. Especially the first few interactions between Leif and Tylis. And I liked the overall feel of the story. Old friends meeting for the first time in forever and one of them comming to stay over, everyone being a doofy doof, it's all just so... I dunno... Heartwarming.
I liked the little vore thing in there, getting sencelessly gobbled up by a drunk turian... Dreamy~ And that's despite the fact that I still think there's nothing casual about fatal vore. Oh and I can't not mention how much I liked the description of the cooking process being there. I could just imagine a turian in one of those white tall chef hats slicing something up as a couple of salarian assistants run around the kitchen with some errand or other.
