There were a few cathedral catacombs I pulled up that can't recall the name of, but one in 'thedral particular I was looking at was Canterbury! I hadn't even intended to reference cathedrals, but during my search for material, I found the designs relevant to what I was looking for :D

I've never been there, but the photos all depicted a kind of beautiful, underlying grimness that I really wanted for the setting of this illustration. My color choices started off a lot more blue to further carry that idea, but ended up becomming a lot warmer than I intended in the end LOL
