I've been wondering for a long time with styles like this - do you paint on top of the sketch or under it, or do base colors under, then render on top of the sketch, or what? I'm really curious how to get that sort of painted line look like you have here!

It's pretty much the last one. I do kind of a rough painting with just some basic shading and stuff under the sketch and then put in all the details on layers over the sketch.
