Warrior of the east (book 2 chapter 11)
Another chapter featuring
Kiya Drakon Though this is a short chapter I hope you enjoy :)
Warrior of the East
Kiya reeled in a digiseabass, Tossing it over to Scav who sat in a corner, his stomach growling a bit from the lack of food the last few hours. Though the whining had stopped, Now Scav couldn't unglue his eyes from his digivice. "Hey, Now you have something to eat bud. What is it that you keep staring so intensely at on your digivice?"
The smack from the seabass knocked him out of his trance, he groaned, pushing at the fish's slimy tailfin. "I didn't have anything better to do so I flipped through it's features...and apparently I was directed to something called the Starlight cup. Max and RD entered the tournament and both one their matches so far."
Kiya blinked, sitting beside Scav as his friend enlarged the screen, with a flick of his claw the screen moved from the tiny surface of Scav's digivice up into the air like a holographic screen. "Oooh this might help us pass the time on getting to our destination!"
Etemon tapped his mic a couple of times, making sure it was on and gestured to the crowd. "Alright folks! Match 3 is moving into high gear! This time, we have a special guest from the East! He's known worldwide as the dragon of justice, Everyone give it up for the Dinohyumon known as Blade!"
Blade, stepped forth into the ring, On each arm were a pair of Axe like blades attached to his arm guard. From there, the difference between Blade's appearance and the standard dinohyumon took place, as instead of the usual sword it carried on it's back, Blade had been carrying two short swords.
"Huh..." Fang held out his Digivice, comparing Blade's appearance to that of his digimon database. "He's not your average Dinohyumon that's for sure...for one the digivice is picking up traces of Chrome digizoid in those shortswords. They won't break unless under the most severe strain. Still they have poor reach...He would have been better off with the usual setup."
Back on the ship, Lyle finally got them back on track and stared at the holo display. "Oh! It's Blade, I haven't seen him in four years. Those two swords he has, they're unique crafts that were made by Smithy. They are embued with the cores of two very powerful mega digimon."
Kiya was intrigued, Scav had mentioned back in the human world about Smithy being able to craft weapons and armor from the leftover data of deleted digimon. "Which...Mega digimon are they?"
"The right handed blade is infused with the spirit of a SaberLeomon. A warrior from our tribe that went crazy. He was infected with a virus so Smithy put him down, reconstructing his core and his sanity into a single deadly weapon. The left handed blade contains the spirit of a Wargreymon, one of the dragon warriors of the east that died defending the primary village in their region. Again Smithy was able to restore him and give him life in the form of Blade's weapon of choice." Lyle took a deep breath, if Kiya and Scav looked at Blade's weapons, each one had a slight glow about them, the right sword shimmering yellow and the left, orange.
Finally, Scav managed to wolf down the Seabass and let out a small belch, grinning. "Well...I probably should have asked Smithy to forge me a weapon then. I feel naked without a sword strapped to my back."
Rolling his eyes, Lyle poked Scav's now thrashing belly. "You're too small to carry a sword right now. You'd be better off with a dagger."
At that comment, Scav crossed his arms with a grumble, getting a chuckle out of Kiya. "So then...If Smithy is Baihumon's strongest warrior...and Blade is Azulongmon's best, Then each of the four soverigns..."
"That's right." Lyle smiled, lifting up a claw. "Each of the Soverign's have raised and strengthened a warrior to protect their people. And it's usually the dominating species of that region. Azulongmon's domain is one of pure dragons, Heck both you AND Scav would have felt at home living in such a realm. Just as ours in the west is home to more beast type digimon than anything else. Though every region has a mix of just about every species."
"I don't think that was what Kiya was leading up to." Scav took a deep breath, rubbing his squirming belly, glad that he finally had something inside him. "Baihumon had Smithy stay in the village to protect it. But it looks like Azulongmon sent his best warrior away, who'se going to protect their region now?"
"Blade's tribe is a warrior tribe, unlike the Smithies which work as an all around clan, his is derived of digimon all capable of protecting themselves. All of them are strong enough to subdue ultimates." Lyle assured them.
Scavenger's eyes went wide. "Then shouldn't he be in the ultimate division instead?! He's way too overpowered for this tournament."
Lyle grinned, pointing to the holo display. "To be honest the only person who has gone toe to toe with Blade at an even level is Mr Smithy. But against everyone else he always manages to tone down his power level to match his opponants. In that way just about everyone has a fair shot at beating him. Still..." Lyle took a deep breath, watching a Grizzlymon come out into the arena on the screen. "The difference between Smithy and Blade are their personalities. Blade is a kind warrior, a seeker of justice in ways that baffle other digimon. While Smithy can be gentle, but he's unable to restrain himself in battle. He often either reduces a digimon to it's digiegg state or deletes them, with regret of course..."
Both dragon's sweatdropped at the mention of Smithy's inability to go easy on weaker opponants.
A Grizzlymon stepped into the ring, and almost immediately both Blade and the Grizzlymon started going at it with the beast type digimon putting most of it's weight into each attack, leaving Blade able to do very little but defend with his twin swords.
Blade didn't look to dissapointed though, teeth bared, he endured the attacks, each one making the shine on his weapons glow brighter. "You have a lot of power my friend! But you're not doing much more than swinging those arms of yours like a wild bear!" He chuckled at the relation, given that Grizzlymon was a bear.
"EXCUSE ME?!" The Grizzlymon roared, obviously taking offense to the comment and charged right into Blade.
"My weapons are resonating with your attacks! You have much power like I said! But you have no way to control them. You clearly are not the one I'm looking for." Blade let Grizzlymon charge at him, spinned to the side with his glowing yellow blade slashing at Grizzlymon's ribs, a light cut that wouldn't seriously injure him.
Grizzlymon growled in annoyance, turning around to swipe at Blade who merely ducked beneath his beast of an opponant, swiping at the bears belly. "Hah! Your attacks do little more than tickle me!"
Up in the stands, Jesse could only shake his head. "Grizzlymon doesn't have a chance of winning this. He's too upset to realize that Blade's toying with him at this point. I sense great power in those weapons of his, if he wanted he could have deleted Grizzlymon with the first swipe."
As if Blade had overheard JEsse's comment from above, he looked in the Loweemon's direction, gave a subtle nod and pointed to the exit. Then he shoved the tip of his right blade into the ground, for a moment there were sparks, then an apparition of a Saberleomon came from the sword, charging right at Grizzlymon and engulfing him in a bright blazing set of flames
Once that was done, Blade sheathed both his swords, walking away from the ring as Grizzlymon's cries rang behind him, the digimon falling to the ground exhausted thereafter, knocked out of commission.
"W-well! That was a rather short battle! The winner of this match is obviously Blade! Our Eastern champion!" Etemon shouted out, the crowd cheering in delight over the victory.
Jesse stood up, well aware of Blade's intentions, he started walking out of his seat when Fang intervened. "You're not going to battle him are you...?"
"I really don't know." Jesse replied calmly, taking a deep breath. "BUT he did just ask me to go outside so I'm going to meet his request. He obviously recongnized this body."
After a bit of walking through the crowds, he heard as Etemon started announcing the next set of battles, when he heard Flare's name mentioned he paused, until a Gomamon pushed at him. "Hey outta the way! I'm trying to watch this battle..."
Grumbling, the Gomamon could have been a fish treat but Jesse decided to remain calm. it looked like he'd have to miss Flare's battle but after making it backstage, Jesse finally met up with Blade, who sat patiently on a bench. "You know about Loweemon don't you?"
Blade closed his eyes for a moment, before unsheathing his left blade, containing the spirit of Wargreymon. "You're one of the digimon Lord Azulongmon mentioned in his visions. The eight that came to this world, that don't belong. You should leave the concerns of digimon to pure digimon, not human turned creatures."
Jesse's eyes narrowed, pulling out his javelin out of the air, ready to battle. "That's not for you to decide. We were brought here by the Royal knight Gallantmon. We came to make sure the mistakes of the past aren't repeated."
"Just done in a different way then?" Blade leapt forward, striking at Jesse who guarded with his own spear. "You're taking orders from a knight that was removed from duty! He has no honor!"
keeping the sword in Blade's arm from penetrating him, Jesse growled out his words, while materializing his shield in the other hand. "He gave his everything to make sure the Darkness couldn't harm this world! We're the ones trying to make sure that wish remains standing!"
Blade snorted, pulling out the sword of Saberleomon and swiping at Jesse's throat, knocked back only by the shield. "You were the one who started it all over again. Your form is proof enough."
That got to Jesse, Blade's next swipe against his shield sent him staggering back, pressed against the wall. "I made a lot of mistakes the past year, I'll admit that, I was the one who housed Reapermon and lead him to come to this world. And that's why the old knight has given me a second chance to redeem myself." He gripped his spear tightly, going on the offensive now, using his shield to knock away blade's right sword, his spear to the left and he charged right into his chest, growling in rage, when the two knocked over the bench he panted. "I am making up for the sins I've created. I'm walking down the path with loweemon because with darkness I can resist THE DARKNESS."
This time it was Blade's turn to attack, he kicked Jesse off of him and leapt to his feet. "You're only fooling yourself." He pointed his Wargreymon sword at Jesse, it started glowing red hot. "By coming to this world you only gave the darkness an advantage." Blade looked at Jesse for a moment, reading the emotions within the digimon human's eyes then sheathed both his swords. "Leave this battle to us digimon...humans or dragons turned into digimon don't belong on this battlefield."
Jesse cringed, trying to pull himself off the ground. He watched as Blade walked away from him. Was he really that weak? And did Blade come all this way just to antagonize him...Jesse had no way of knowing.
"AND the winner is Flare!" were the last thing he heard blaring over the speakers before sleep took him.
Flare sweatdropped, waving to the crowd and laughing as his opponant, a Drimogemon was laying belly up beside him. But since he wasn't much of a predator he decided to leave it be and started wondering backstage to their room.
Scav sighed, powering off his digivice and returning it within his body for now, it had gotten late all of a sudden and he now just wanted to sleep more than anything. "They all made it...That Blade...he's something."
Kiya was in agreement, but something didn't quite feel right to him. Still, from the middle of the digital ocean there was nothing they could do about it yet. They just had to hope the rest of the group could take care of things.
