[AFJ] Something terribly comforting...
"There's something terribly comforting in being someone's beast."
This is what I call a quote vignette. It's a tiny and quick concept drawing for the whole purpose of illustrating a defining character trait with a quote.
When designing characters for my headworld and my comic, 'A Fool's Journey', it helps me to think of things they would say; certain signature quotes. I then came up with the idea to illustrate those quotes with a quick, yet defining image.
This one brings a lot of feelings to me.
Characters are Lord Cicero, Ez' handler and master in his human form and Ez in his EGO.
I've drawn them together before: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15652781/ #NSFW
Expect to see more quote vignettes of various characters for the comic in the future.

yes, most definitely, after EF. :) After Eurofurence I'll be focussing on my comic anyway. So there will be more quote vignettes from various characters. I have a couple more of Ez' quotes I want to illustrate, too.

WOW, it looks like his design has changed a bit since the previous pic, I really like it a lot! The two color ink makes a nice contrast. As much as I love monstery relations I kind of think this is a more powerful piece since Ez looks like he could toss his Lord around like a ragdoll in this form, but he's such a cute looking pet :D
Do you like Guiermo del Toro? Ez looks inspired by some GdT movie beasts! XD quite awesome

I love Guilermo del Toro movies! <3 Absolutely!
And you're right, Ez design is changing a lot, lately, but I am getting closer and closer to what I ultimately want. I am working on a ref sheet atm but will most likely not finish it before Eurofurence as work for EF has priority over all other stuff right now.

Neat! I'll be excited to see what he looks like when you have all the details figured out :3 I appreciate that balance of power and the need to remain in charge. It's one of those things I can respect having worked at a zoo. As much as any of the bigger animals would be friendly to you you never were allowed to let your guard down and be alone with them since they still were wild creatures! Fascinating dynamic to see with more sentient humanoid beasts as well!
Thanks! :D Yeah, I like the composition. Ez is balancing his weight from one leg to the other, thus his stand isn't solid, he's moving, only relying on his hands pressed on 'Cero's shoulders. While 'Cero on the other hand is standing upright and still, although he's so much smaller (in this form, anyway) he doesn't falter or lose his balance, he's the stable master, the hand that feeds. There should be no doubt about it.
But you can see how tightly Ez' hands are pressed down on his handler there... there is tension, even though he seems to be such a happy puppy. Which is exactly what's behind their relationship.
Ez needs a steady hand. Although he's 400 pounds of living stone, he can sense the tiniest disturbace or uncertainty in his partner and will slightly nudge and press and rub against it until he finds a weak spot. And then, well... then no more happy puppy. so this relationship is trying and testing for both of them. But they wouldn't have it any other way.
