Telokey looked on in horror, still trying to come to grasp what had just happened.
He’d dropped it. He’d had it in his hand, and he’d dropped it. The key was just about two feet away from the tip of his nose, but it could have been miles away for what good it did him.
Telokey thrashed against the cuffs, pulling his wrists against them, desperately hoping that there would be some give in them for him to slip his wrists through. But the cold metal was ruthless in its grip, offering no freedom.
The bat mewled pathetically into the gag for help, not caring now who found him. He’d heard stories about people who’d died because of accidents like this, and he didn’t want to be another one of those unfortunate accidents.
But as the minutes ticked away into hours, and his struggles proved to be useless, Telokey prayed someone would find him soon. Though he couldn’t decide on whether or not he wanted the finder to free him, or maybe keep him bound a little longer…
