You might notice how Shiro's eyes work. The truth is that Shiro's eyes turn red when moonlight expose to them. It's some sort of predator enhanced (not night) vision to approach targets. During the day or not exposed to the light, his eyes are plain black. Some light spectrum and the use of some powers such as healing can also turn his eyes reddish, while ultraviolet like spectrum causes them to turn pitch black. He is a hunter, engineered by nature to become efficient and fearful at the same time.
