Necromancy in CnC - Another Infographical Thingumijigger
Time for a little explanation of (some) of the magical science behind Necromancy in the CnC world. I hope, as always, this creates as many questions as it answers. :D Because I do so love fuckin' wit' yer heads. <3

More likely it's simply not practiced as often due to Spiritual magic user's standpoint on the dead. These people would be more like your priests that send off the spirits... they might, on occasion, root a spirit back into it's body for a brief time to get answers, or ask for help, but such actions would be considered semi-blasphemous, even within their own circles unless (I'd assume) the spirit itself suggested it.
this of course, just coming from a person who enjoys overthinking magic as much as the creator of CnC <3

Well, could be practised somewhat often, but certainly not cheaply, since we know Red is looking to raise funds to resurrect his sister, who's body is currently on ice: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11653391/
Hmm...this makes me wonder. What's eluded to for the third grade of arcane necromancy seems reminiscent of Arcturious, especially with the illustration, except when the rune was removed he came to his senses to reality as opposed to, say, falling apart. That, and arcane necromancy seems to be more of a nature of the imitation of life, whereas as far as we can tell, the soul/spirit of Arcturious still resides within what remains of his body, giving it a semblance of life. However, we do know that there are mages/sourcerers dabbling in combining spiritual magic and arcane magic, and presumably Arcturious was made an undead by the guy who sacrificed the city to become a sourcerer, so there may be a bit arcane and spiritual magic with him.
Hmm I'm trying to chart in my head how to divide magic so if I'm not mistaken the 2 majors are spiritual or soul magic and arcane wich is the physics manipulation magic but they're inherently distinct by the caster either having prpensity for either focusing mana and adding reasoning(arcane) or adding faith(spiritual) as in most cases people are unable of handling both, but those that know that it's possible to adopt a Shroedinger-like mentality can use both cause it seams the case to be abvle to use this is to be exactly sure of yourself reasonably(reason) and then some(faith) as Selena shows in her demeanor.Seems as Kharma awknologed that it's possible he can percieve mana wich should be spiritual domain.
There are also strains of magic that can be used with the elements such as necromancy that manipulates bodies or spirits and who knows what if a full sage(as that's what a white and black mage is for lack of better term) can do.Tantricism that manipulates surges of the worlds lifeforce that is sent on copulation to a possible new life to enhance the body to what seems to be temporary sourcerism and enhacing it's physical output. And there's Enchantment that puts magic circuits that work on somehow speaking to the word in either calling forth its energy(channeling) or manipulating it's rules(as regular magic does) so it can and can't be considered magic.
There are parts that may be wrong cause I don't know how wizards channel(will check previous pages) mana but as Kharma said it was glyphs and I assume that as Kharma needs none to cast is cause the closer people are to the world the lesser is the need of glyphs so wizards pretty much ask the world for stuff with comunication the tantrics use energy the world would send to a new life and sourceror basicaly can comunicate with no words to the world getting it's energy by defaut and activating spells also without it's aid.
Also the sourceness seems to be inherent of the body either by some special energy that is able to call for more from the world to itself or a sort of orifice for lack of better terms is present in a more dilated form in them wich makes the worlds energy always flow in them in greater power making channeling unneeded and obsolute.Seems also be a process in "holding" mana that seems to be the output on wich a mage can use spells on his/her own and holding mana seems to be only when it's to activate spells cause if not the human that destroyed Ba'rith would've exploded from the massive ammount of enegey used to either enlagen his magic "orifice", to make himself closer to the world or aquire the specific energy.

Also eems to be lesser forms of maic such as the monk's that can manipulate mana in the air and summoners that can grant arcane properties to a spirit being and as the process is taxing either due to hadling both kinds of magic without proper understanding or exausting the body's energy that fill it with life without channeling more it seems to make it deadly to regular people.
