This is the second part of the "The Snow Angel" series I've been writting.
I know some of you have already seen this piece back on my other profile, but I've decided to repost it and I've also corrected some minor gramma mistakes. :3
The Snow Angel series does have a first chapter, but it's written on another language. I'll translate it to english just so you guys can read it.
I'm also planning on writting a 3rd chapter introducing a new character to the series. o:
Please send lots of love to Snowy and never forget to share some kindness and love to those who bear such a difficult battle against depression. May you all be happy! <3
Chapter 3: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16983452/
A Warm Place on Winter
His bright blue eyes opened up slowly as he heard the yelling outside his room. His parents were probably fighting again. Those eyes were still wet from yesterday's crying. The wolf had spent exactly 2 hours crying in bed before falling asleep with exhaustion. Such had been his “nights”, or should I say days? He usually spent the whole day asleep trying to avoid his annoying family and only got up when the sun was going down to go to college.
Snowy knew he had to get up. With his parents fighting again, they wouldn't be pleased if he skipped classes another time. He slowly got out from under his covers, he was so tired yesterday that he hadn't even changed his clothes before sleeping. He gently placed his fox plushie on the bed as he slowly put his feet on the ground and stood up.
He stood still for a couple of seconds just listening to the fight that was happening outside. The wolf changed his clothes as slow as possible… He did not want to go to college today. Unfortunately for him, though, he didn't have a choice. If he got reproved his parents would certainly make his life even worse a hell than it already was.
After he had finally finished dressing up, Snowy got out of his room without saying anything. He was a quiet one, had always been… Well, except when he was alone. He was the kind that talked to himself. Maybe that's because he never had friends, not even as a child when he looked from his window at the mountains hoping that he could leave and find his freedom, his warm place on winter.
He waited patiently for his parents to stop fighting, and without saying a word, both him and his dad went out the door. He didn't even eat anything… He wasn't really hungry. His father was usually the one who would get him to school and pick him up. Snowy hated this though, since his dad usually told him mean things throughout their way there. His mother wasn't different.. She always mistreated him and said mean things to the poor wolf. They never cared for him. It felt like he was just a pet instead of their son, even though he knew that there were many pets out there that were a lot happier than him. Still, he tried his best not to mistreat his parents much… He was the kind type, even though sometimes he couldn't handle his gathered rage.
- Bye. - Snowy said as he stepped out of his father's car. As usual, his dad didn't say anything, he just left. As he walked through the corridors of his university… University.. Why did he even called it like that? It felt most like hell! Too many people around him and, for someone that has crowd fright, that can be really a pain, one that he endured every day silently. By the time he got on his classroom, the classes had already started. He was always late, either because he had some time issues, or because he just wasn't in a good mood.
His teachers liked him a lot though. They thought he was intelligent for getting the best grades… Of course, only a nerd would get an A+ on Anatomy! But those grades were nothing to Snowy. The only thing he actually wanted was a friend and that was very unlikely to happen. People are always mean and they wouldn't bring themselves to understanding his feelings, his needs. He was better off on his own… He avoided talking to anyone since every time he did so, he would, eventually, get owned by his anxiety and speak a bit too much…
And speaking of anxiety, he could suddenly feel his heart start pounding again. It was getting harder to breath, he was starting to sweat and his anguish was starting to suffocate him. He was having yet another panic attack… Nobody could notice that though. He never showed his feelings in public. Whenever he told someone that he was nervous or burning with anxiety, or even depressed, he usually heard the same stuff again and again: “Really?! You?! No, I can't believe it! That's so not like you!”.
By the time the Biochemistry class was over, he rushed outside the classroom. This time he didn't even speak with his teacher, he just wanted to run away… He wanted to be alone, he wanted to cry a bit and he knew the perfect spot for that. Of course, he would miss his Physics class, but it's not like he cared anymore. He walked with fast steps outside of the building as he reached a green area full of trees. That was the place he went to whenever he felt like that… Whenever he needed to be left alone and unleash his well locked up feelings.
He soon reached to a wall beside a tree and as soon as he looked around and was sure that nobody was there, he meltdown. He cried so much he thought that he would drown on his own tears… He yelled so much he thought his ears were gonna bleed. But what was actually bleeding was his forehead as he hit it fiercely against the wall on an attempt to ease his emotional pain with a physical one.
By the time he stopped, his face was all covered up in blood. His white fur wasn't white anymore as he sat down with his back against the wall, embracing his knees as he cried even more with no sign that it would cease. He remained like that for quite some time, but he soon heard a voice. Someone had seen him like that and went to see what was wrong.
- Hey… Are you okay? Did someone hit you? - It was a girl, a white siberian husky. Her voice was sweet and soft, it seemed to calm him down a bit… A bit.
- I'm f-fine… Please, go away, I don't want anyone to see me like that… - He said without even raising his head.
- I don't mind, I know you're in pain… And that looks bad… I'm studying nursing, I can take care of that wound for you… - The girl said as she gently sat by his side and started to pick up some first aid tools from her bag.
- Don't bother… That wound is not as half as bad as the ones I've got the last time I tried to commit suicide.
- You tried to kill yourself? But why would you do that? - She said as she started cleaning up his forehead.
- Yes… That wasn't the first time actually… I've been trying to do that ever since I was 15. My life is a big pile of shit… I don't have anyone… My parents hate me and everyone I held dearest to me have abandoned me. Nobody has ever loved me… And speaking of love, I've fallen in love so many times, for so many people and nobody ever fell for me! The only 2 times someone said they loved me, it was either a lie or just because they were taking pity on me and I just… I just… I can't handle that anymore… I can't, I… - He stopped talking as a red blush appeared on his wet face. The girl was giving him a soft and warm hug, one like he had never received before.
- Shh… It's okay, it will all go away soon…
Snowy couldn't bring himself to say a word after that. He just remained silent, not sure of what to do. That kindness, that gentleness, that warm feeling on his chest… That warm place… It felt just like his warm place on winter… That hug was soon interrupted when the husky gently laid the wolf's head on her lap and started caressing it.
- Maybe you've never found an angel because you're an angel yourself… One so beautiful that makes the other angels jealous… But I'll tell you a secret: There are other angels just like you out there and one day one of them will choose to be by your side, understanding and not judging you and loving you for who you are. Don't give up.
- T-thanks… - Was the only thing that he managed to say as he slowly closed his eyes with that warm feeling on his chest. It felt so good… Some kindness is all a tormented soul like him wishes for. The last thing he saw before closing his eyes was a bracelet the girl was wearing with her name on it. “Bianca”.
***
The sound of the people talking woke him up. The classes were already over and everybody was heading home. There was no sight of that mysterious girl anywhere. He couldn't help but wonder if all of that was just a dream…
- No, it must have been real… That feeling… I know it was real… - He lied there for a couple more minutes, just thinking about what had happened when one of the guards came by him.
- Hey, kid, we're closing the building. You must leave now.
As Snowy walked out and picked up his phone, he could see that he had 7 unanswered calls on his phone. His parents would be mad at him, but it's not like he cared anymore… He just walked and wandered through the streets not knowing where he was headed to. The only thing he knew for sure was that he didn't want to go home yet.
