it's an inside joke between fursat and I. also our town has one single roundabout near the hospital. most people in this town try to avoid it because they aren't sure "do you go around one time, do you go around a quarter turn, do you go 80kmh in it? which direction do you go in it?"
8+ trailers?
That's 3-7 Teamsters not making any money.
Also that thing is a rolling traffic jam.
And his reverse hear is completely useless, he even inches backwards and SOMETHING back there will jackknife.
There's a reason rail transport is used for large cargo transfers.
Road trains are cool when you're a kid, and for Mad Max settings, but outside that, they're just an instant aggravation to anyone who would possibly have to deal with it on a highway.

Exactly, the cars have to be detached for any maneuverability in reverse. Even 2-trailer trains are impossible to control accurately in reverse, but the truck can back up a little before something jacknifes.
With an 8+ car train, any reversing at all will cause jacknifing, and possibly even flipping trailers off their wheels.
My inner Engineer is just screaming in terror at all the potential problems that thing could cause on the highway.

B-Double's are easy to reverse. I watched my truckie neighbor reverse his B-Double day in, day out for 8 years into a narrow spot not much bigger then the truck. Roadtrains aren't meant for heavily populated areas, they're meant for getting big loads into places trains can't go. The Australian Outback is dominated by these magnificent trucks as not many railroads can get into the rural towns dotted through the desert. Plus roadtrains are built for abuse, most trucks would wither under their pressure. I understand they have their problems with being big trucks but if you respect the roadtrain, it'll respect you as the driver. Treat her well and you'll have no problems.
