Light and Darkness
Taking a deep breath, after what seemed like hours on the sea, Lyle removed both of his paws from the steering wheel of the ship and got back down comfortably on all fours, Thankfully the ship was sturdy enough to handle high winds and could weather most storms. "Alright, I've programmed the boat to make it's way to the northern sea border. Once we're there, we should recieve an alarm from your digivice." He pointed a claw in Scavenger's direction and climbed out onto the open deck.
"OK That's not something you could do on any ships in the real world as far as I've known." Kiya pointed out, he was skeptical but so far nothing in this world had any sense of normality. "But I'll take your word for it, still a ship that sails on it's own. Why'd you take the wheel if it could do so much?"
Lyle began arching his back upward in a stretch, before shaking his fur a bit. "Most don't here either. But I'm good with my hands. I wouldn't have been able too if Scavenger wasn't storing it in his digivice, You could say we're using his digivice as a GPS device to find the coast of the Northern region. And the Ship is being pulled towards it like an anchor."
Scavenger tapped a claw over his chin, thinking it over and smirked. "That's brilliant...I guess the Smithy clan really is the best at their crafts. I don't think I could have thought of something THAT simple."
"Hey watch it." Lyle let out a low growl, it was all in good fun. "I had to set the ship in the right direction, once we had it set correctly then the ship could auto correct itself. That's the reason I stayed on the wheel." He yawned, opening a small compartment on the deck revealing two fishing rods. "It'll be a good couple days till we're in the North, so I crafted these to help us catch fish for us to eat the next couple days."
Kiya raised an eyeridge, before gripping one of the rods and giving it a short thrust into the water. "Feels solid enough. This will help big time! But what kind of fish live in these waters?"
"Digiseabass? There are also other aquatic digimon that roam these waters, the trick is to reel in the smaller ones without having a real big one on our hands...for example it'd be great to catch a Gomamon, but if we end up snatching a Whamon we'll be in a heap of trouble." Lyle explained.
Scav tossed his hook into the water as well, smiling to himself. "Makes sense...well let's hope we don't snag any champions then. While we're waiting, how about telling us that story of the light and darkness you mentioned?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Lyle decided to lay back and bask in the sun. Once he was comfortable he let out a snort. "I did promise I'd tell you both. It's not a story that is normally told to outsiders of my clan. But Baihumon did choose and bless you. These aren't normal circumstances... Alright, as you know Max's grandfather was a great Gallantmon? Their species are known to act on their feelings rather than on King Drasil's judgements. But it goes a little deeper than that as Gallantmon weren't always capable of wielding the light."
That caught Scav's attention, by the way the old Guilmon foretold it, It seemed as if he always had the power of light on his side. "Oh? When did this happen then?"
"Well for starters, Max's grandfather didn't inherit the light by DNA. He was taught by Baihumon when he had a vision of things to come. Baihumon and the other Soverigns give this gift of light to those they deem worthy. Some in the real world have even been wielders of the light, but some went a bit overboard and believed themselves to be gods." Lyle lifted one paw and started waving it around. "Most of them wiped themselves out and since then only those with a good balance and understanding of good and evil were gifted with this power."
"Light templars? RD mentioned something about that before we parted ways." Kiya pointed out, gasping as he felt a tug on his line and began reeling it in.
Lyle shrugged his shoulders, letting out a great yawn before watching Kiya pulling in what looked to be a crabmon and smirked. "Probably, There's no telling, it pre dates my lifetime. But it sounds like the same scenario. Both of you are inheritors of the light now thanks to Baihumon's wishes. I hope that you do not waste it."
Scav smirked, poking the Crabmon that Kiya pulled in, it gave him an agitated glare for a second. "Delta was the same. He had the spirit of light inside of him and his judgement was warped. But where does this tie in to the darkness?"
"I'm getting to it! You just keep reeling in today's meal." Lyle snickered, shutting his eyes as he continued. "There was a balance. Even before these...Light templars came into existance. There's a reason why there are seven great demon lords in this digital world, and thirteen royal knights. While the Demon lords don't exactly work FOR King Drasil, they do work to act as a counterweight in the balance of good and evil. They've bestowed the power of darkness to people in your world too. One prime example being Reapermon within Jesse. Now! The Darkness, Max's grandfather did battle with did not just come out of nowhere. It was born both from the corrupted light and the darkness that was bestowed on humanity and the other species. It collected and grew until it was something that threatened to destroy all worlds. The only threat that was as big as the current darkness would be the D-reaper."
Scav smirked, watching as the Crabmon tried to pinch at Kiya but was shoved into his maw whole, swallowed after a few tasting slurps and a belch following after. "What's the difference between the two? If we know their similarities and differences maybe we can counter them?" Kiya suggested, gasping as he felt the kicking in his stomach and let out another belch.
"Two major differences and one big similarity." Lyle held up a paw and sighed. "The D-reaper has a physical form, it can be combatted using force if enough is used. The second difference is that the D-reaper was a computer program, a rather SIMPLE program but it evolved overtime. Trying to absorb every other program into itself. Bio organic life forms are also programmed, so they were assimilated too."
Kiya gave a shiver as he heard that. "sounds like the flood from the Halo series. And what's the difference you mentioned?"
Lyle laughed, watching the bulge inside of Kiya's stomach go still after awhile, the digestive process beginning inside of his friend. "The Darkness was born out of peoples hearts. Or in our cases CORES. Individually the Darkness was no threat, but as it expanded then it started to take on a life of it's own. It grew just like the D-reaper, seeking to expand it's territory into any and all life forms. In that regard they both grew on their own. But Unlike the D-reaper it does not assimilate it's prey. It does not seek true destruction, but unification through despair." Lyle let that statement hang for a moment then sighed. "Baihumon, and the other digimon soverign's favor the light, while it can be used for destruction it's purpose is to aid in life not to take it away. In the same way Darkness is used to balance out the light. People fear the darkness as it should be. But they misunderstand it for evil."
With a subtle nod, Kiya yanked out a Gomamon this time, it hung onto the line with a grumble. "Hey! You keep sticking those lines in these waters you're gonna scare all my fish friends away!"
Kiya giggled, and was about to eat the aquatic digimon but Lyle was faster, pulling the poor guy off the line and opening wide, shoving the Gomamon into his mouth, it kicked and struggled, it even managed to poke it's head out in disgust and commented. "Ugh...brush your teeth!" He cried before being pushed back in and swallowed down, Lyle let out a massive belch shortly thereafter.
"Hey...you took my catch..." Kiya pouted, but he already had a meal in his gut so he let it slide, tossing the line back into the water.
"BUWAAARP! You had a crab...deal with it." Lyle snickered, licking his lips. "And he was tasty. Anyways! The light and the darkness have always balanced one another. There are warriors of light, like YOU two, and the rest of your defense force. Then there are warriors of darkness. The demon lords command this army. Even if you defeat this looming threat more battles will continue to be forged. Even if you're not the one going into battle." Lyle took a deep breath and yawned, laying his head on his forepaws. "Max is a Smithy...and as I was saying at the beginning of the story we are the guardians of the light. Max's father was to be the hero of light foretold in the prophecy by Baihumon. But darkness got to him before he could harness it and then it was passed onto Max. Though I believe it's in better hands now, as a SMITHY, Max has the natural ability to harness light. He cannot be corrupted by the dark, even if he were to rejoin with Chaos."
FINALLY, Scav managed to catch himself something on his line, though he was having a much more difficult time reeling it in. "Ugh guys? I think I grabbed something a little too big..."
Just as Scav finished his statement, an Ebidramon sprang from the water, leaping onto the ship and snapping it's pincers towards them. Lyle couldn't help but growl. "I told you to be careful! Now we have a fight on our hands..."
"Twin Scissors!" The Ebidramon shouted out, bringing it's pincers to bare on Scavenger and Kiya, both managed to leap out of the way, though they landed ontop of the appendages.
"May as well get the experience! Ready Kiya?" Scav roared out, and with a unified nod of the head, both dragon digimon started running along the Ebidramon's arms, the two of them punching the Aquatic digimon on either side of the face, though it didn't seem to have much effect. After their surprising fail, Kiya was knocked flat by a claw slapping him away. Scav barely ducked in time to avoid the second. "Hey! Stop moving around so much!"
"Ah shut up you little runt!" The Ebidramon growled, wrapping it's pincer around Scav's middle, starting to squeeze around him. "You shouldn't have been hunting in my territory! Now I'm going to tear you in two!"
Lyle growled, staring at Ebidramon before getting his claws out and leaping to swat at the giant Crustacian, only to be caught in the other pincer. The two digimon squirming in the vice grip as they felt the pressure around their chest and stomachs tighten. "Ack! I think you might have to tend to two more eggs Kiya!" Lyle growled out, trying to claw at the shell of the Pincer.
"The hell I will! I'm not letting you two become sea food!" Kiya roared out, opening his jaws as his horns started glowing. "G Shurunen!" He cried out, firing at the Ebidramon. Then gasped with the attack simply bounced off it's hide. "I don't care how much stronger you are! I'll kick your ass and serve you on a platter!"
That got a laugh out of Ebidramon, the Champion level digimon grinning down at him. "That's rich! You can't even scratch my body and you made such a bold statement?!"
That did it, Kiya started clenching his teeth, rage starting to boil inside of him at the notion that he was helpless to help his friends. "LET MY FRIENDS GO!" He immediately began glowing, a shining light enveloping him. The first thing to change were the horns on his head split into three on each side, rather than remaining as a non pointed nub, each horn grew to a dangerous spike. Followed by a horn growing between his nose. His tail were the next thing to develope, growing about five feet in length on it's own, ridges running down the center just as they had in Kiya's pure dragon form. Next came a change in height, his three foot stature quickly changed to that of a twenty foot monster. his smooth scales turning into amazing armor like scales. The claws altered from their white coloration to a glinting black. Once everything was finished, Kiya nearly took up half of the ship's moving space as a new Coredramon, Virus type.
"Well then...You digivolved, Most digimon can't do that on your own. Are you gonna be cliche and say it was because you were worried about your friends?" Ebidramon taunted, rolling his eyes as he tossed both Scavenger AND Lyle into the ocean, giving them a view of the battle from outside the ship.
Kiya snarled, his new form was rather indimidating given his size. He sized up his opponant and growled, he had to be careful not to destroy this ship. Thankfully he didn't have to use any sort of flame to get his point across. He took a few stomps forward and turned around, his massive Tail slamming into Ebidramon and knocking him out of the ship and into the water. "Don't screw with me!" He pointed an accusing claw at the Ebidramon, his horns starting to glow, though this time there was an electric like current going through them as he opened his jaws. "G Shurunen 2!"
The Ebidramon's eyes went wide, an even larger beam of light came from Kiya's jaws this time, Before the digimon could evade the attack it was plunged deep into the water. A couple seconds later, the Ebidramon resurfaced, swirls were in it's eyes indicating it was no longer in any condition to be battling. "Hmph...Should have been deleted...Asshole." Kiya then pulled out his digivice, which surprisingly grew along with his body and he stored the unconcious digimon inside of it for later. When he realized that neither Scav or Lyle were on the ship he started shouting. "Scav!! Lyle! Where'd ya go?"
"Ugh...we're down here! Mind giving us a hand?" Lyle panted, clinging to the outside of the ship, trying to pull himself up.
With a laugh, Kiya helped both his friends back onto the ship before he started de-digivolving back into a Dracomon, it wouldn't do to be so large on a vessal that didn't support that size!
Lyle smiled a bit, patting Kiya's back. "You saved our butts right there you know? What'd you do to the Ebidramon?"
All Kiya did was show his digivice and smirk. "He's in here, Something for all of us to enjoy a little later."
Kiya would have said more, but Scav wrapped him in a hug and nuzzled him. "thank you for saving us bud. I guess I should have been a little more careful...Hey wait! I didn't get to eat anything!"
That got a laugh from the other two, But Kiya licked Scav's cheek with a kind smile. "It's not your fault, Hey I at least digivolved...I felt...so strange, like a rage was boiling deep inside me."
Lyle nodded, taking a deep breath as he assessed the damage and let out a sigh of relief. "That rage was your anger, your darkness coming to the surface. And your digivolution was from your light. When both work together you can do some pretty amazing things. But if you neglect one or the other...you miss out on so much. In any case, not too much damage was done to the ship. Still once we get to the Northern region I'd like to do some repairs."
Kiya looked over the damages to the ship, it was mostly on the bridge, but there was no water coming in so he was thankful for that, but his tail on itself knocked off several planks and cracked a good ammount. But thankfully nothing that would risk their well being. "Erm...sorry...I'll try to remain in control next time."
That got another laugh out of the group. Lyle made his way to the control room and started taking the wheel again. "I'll get us back on course again...You guys just focus on digesting your meals."
"What meal?!" Scav cried out, rubbing his still empty belly and whined. "I'll eat one of you by the end of the day I swear!"
"Aww comeon you can last a little while. Just go fishing again..." Kiya suggested then blinked. "Then again...may wanna wait till we're in safer waters..."
That got Scav to blush, but he couldn't deny the truth in those words. If another digimon decided to attack there was no telling what would happen to their vessal. For now he just sat down, arms crossed in a pouting fashion.
"Just two more days to the North..." Scav grumbled, trying to drift off to sleep so he didn't focus on his growing hunger.
