I've heard Red Heart yarn isn't a really good quality of yarn to make yarn tails. owo

It was the only yarn in our area we could find that wasn't fuzzy for blankets and such. We looked through tutorials and found that most people used this brand for tails.

true, it's the only kind of yarn i can find in my area as well, without driving an hour to another city that has different brands of yarn. x.x

It works, but it breaks a lot easier, so it takes more time.

just a warning before you start, you may wanna use a wire brush (like a pet grooming brush) in order to brush out the yarn and get it to look fluffy :)

It is a wire pet brush on the yarns.

ah right! :) thought it was a hairbrush, i made the mistake of trying to do it with a normal brush first time round and it looked awful :P

I've used the neon one at the bottom and I really liked it :3

After working with Red Heart personally on yarn tails...
Its time consuming and requires a ton more to the get a good quality.

Honestly, its best as the central braid cord of the tail, not the fluff.

Walmart has lots of different yarns...
I picked up a fluffy kind myself...
And it is working wonderfully for my husband's yarn tail.

I don't currently have the yarn on me, but I believe it was this:

But I didn't have to use that much to get the fluff compared to the red heart...
It's takings me...
1 of worth blue, 2 of Oakland Black, and 2 of Chicago Charcoal to make his sona's, Moon, tail.
And I am making it with a black Red Heart core measuring about 36 inches..

Though I also got all the yarn on sale, cause Walmart does sales on it often...
And paid only... 25ish for all the yarn for his tail plus extra yarn for other projects?

Also, you may want to look into a wirebrush like this:

The more teeth and thinner the wires, the finer the brush and softer the fur becomes.

And do you have a straightner/hair iron to smooth the fluff to make it silky and less likey to frizz?
I got one for making mine,,,,
OMG the improvement to the yarn and the tail.
And sooooo much softer.
