And here's a poem, written at the Hemmingway-Pfeiffer Creative Writer's Retreat which I attended this past June. This type of writing is very uncommon for me as I'm usually no good at poetry but I thought this one might be just good enough to post. Specifically, it's supposed to be what you call a "Parallel Poem" and it can be read in its proper format by opening the submission file, but here I arranged it in a simple line by line format because Microsoft Word just doesn't translate properly to this comment-box-thingy-text. However, it can be read just fine either way. None of the meaning is lost.
This poem is a rather personal one for me and it's sentiments spring from many things but most poignant for me, it describes among other things, my past struggles against the lure of pornography.
Everything I Hate
i run
it follows
it leads
i follow
wonderful
detestable
i am torn
i know better than to give in
i give in anyway
i vow never again
i gladly repeat the mistake
i'm in love with everything I hate
my mind isn’t fooled
my corrupt heart obeys
everything I hate
