Well, this picture took me a good 2 hours, I'd say! It's an character design I drew based on a friend's interesting apocalypse scenario: Yellowstone blows the fuck up, western North America is just gone, and Eastern North America is swathed is ash and cut off from the rest of the world. People struggle to survive, some group together and use their numbers to compete for resources, more small factions splinter off until you have everyone killing everyone in an environment that wants to kill everyone.

So my idea with this guy was, considering that the massive amounts of ash in the atmosphere would be blocking a good deal of sunlight, it'll be cold as a motherfucker: i.e. new ice age. If you were overweight (a condition before the catastrophe, as food is in short supply) you could stay warmer easier.

While others are laden in countless layers of cloth to keep off cold and dust, you could travel lighter (relatively). So, the overweight people would be the most mobile and therefore more valuable for combat.
