A page from a new sketch book I'm keeping. No theme, I just draw what comes to my confused imagination. Ever notice how scary looking automobiles of the late 1940s-early 1950s looked?

Yeah, those years of autos had faces... usually with big-grille teeth.
Some of the 1990s and 2000s cars had the similar aggressive expressions with their tail-lights and rear-trunk accents. That couldn't have been accidental (no pun expected). For savage expressions, all-terrain vehicles tend to be way over the top, with unhidden faces and snarls... perfect for beasts running on trails through the woods.

Very much so. My folks had a 1955 Cadillac, and to my young mind, those pointy bumper guards didn't suggest female anatomy, but a set of tusks. The overall effect was not unlike one a Japanese oni crafted in steel and chrome. Of course I had no idea what an oni was at the time, but I'd seen the figures.
Wasn't it Larry Niven who wrote the story, "Inferno," where in the re-telling of the tale crafted by Dante' where the damned heroes had to deal with demon cars that seemed to take delight in running their helpless victims over?
Today's car designs lack all grace, and are brutishly ugly. They call it "Road Presence" but it's more of a way to appeal to the overly competitive consumers who want to strike fear into other drivers and chase them off the road. It's one of the reasons the "Hummer" was created.
