Amaterasu is also the name of a goddess in the Japanese religion called Shintoism. She is goddess of the sun, and is a human formed but can take other forms, and one of her other forms is that of a wolf. In all her forms she is depicted as pure white with red markings on her face... she is an important goddess as well.
