Like any mad scientist worth their sodium chloride, Templeton enjoys making a show of his achievements and boast about them and even perform live demonstrations (especially if it involves something exploding). In this case, it's no different. He happened across some blue doughy... stuff, and of course he had to see what it was all about. Turns out, it had a whole lot of growth potential. Literally.
