Topaz is a Mystic Gem coming from the Pure Diamond Era, a time long before Gems discover science, there was magic.

Topaz is the last Mystic Gem created from a source called Mystic Fire, a power that gave Gems infused magical abilities, he also became the barer of the last embers of Mystic Fire, keeping it safe till one day the flames burn bright again to recreate new Mystic Gems.
