Definitely cut outs!

My teacher is really big on letting us do what we're good at. Usually a character design would be done on the computer, but I SUCK at digital anything. He actually told me not to do it on the computer and urged me to do it in marker. BUUUTT I have a weakness for cut paper, which is good because he's kind of falling in love with my bee.

Short answer: No, cut outs weren't required.
