Currently I am working on yet another story, titled "A Rat's Empire." I've been working on it for a while now, and so far things have been shaping up pretty nicely. I've even managed to get a full chapter done (which saying something for me, haha).
Anyway, the gist of the story is to be a satire of dramas and soaps and such, only anthro-ized. I chose to have the characters be rats because I thought that species would best represent the summation of what characters are usually like in soap operas: horrible, rotten, nasty people. Lol...
The main character of this series is Charlotte Foster (the white rat-lady). She's a sweet, nice lady who's never been rich and has contented herself with forever being poor... except suddenly her whole life is wrenched out from under her when a friend of hers' wins a trip for a luxury cruise where Charlotte meets another rat by the name of Clint DeRatry, falls in love with him, and elopes.
Clint DeRatry was once one of the most eligible bachelors in all of Ratropolis (the city where the story mainly takes place), being a rat-version of George Clooney and being the 2nd richest rat around.
But marrying a handsome billionaire seems to have its price: there's the matter of Clint's grown-up children who don't approve of the marriage; the matter of all the other animals in Ratropolis who believe the marriage is a sham; the matter that the servants at Villa DeRatry (Clint's home) treat their new mistress with disdain; ...and there's the matter of Clint's first wife, Vivian (yep, that's her portrait above the fire place), who mysteriously disappeared 17 years ago...
Tidbits:
~I'm not really all that satisfied with how the title came out in the pic. I only hand-wrote it because I couldn't find a font that I liked and tried to make one myself, only to fail. But that's the beauty about stuff like this, I can always go back and do it over when I find something.
~Charlotte's dress is based off of Maria VonTrapp's from "Sound of Music."
~Clint and Charlotte's pose is based off a poster for Alfred Hitchcock's "Rebecca."
~The wallpaper's pattern is supposed to look like the face of a rat
