Wow..nice shot!
It's pretty hard to get a shot like that ^^ I've never seen a decent shot of zooooming otters like that.
What camera did you use?

It's pretty tough to get them to turn out, yeah. I use a Canon EOS... I forget what the shutter speed was at, but it was set pretty high.

You should so sell your stuff as stock photography; I'm sure you'd make a good sum. I showed this pic to my old photo teacher and she was impressed.

I dunno. You obviously don't know me and what I do for two days out of the week. The otters would prob'ly put restraining orders on me if they could.

Heh... fortunately for you, otters are not very well versed in the California legal system, and are not likely to sign a restraining order with anything other than a paw print.

Out of curiosity, are you a volunteer, or an actual paid employee?

I've been volunteering for SORAC (Sea Otter Research And Conservation) for 4 years. Paid positions open up every once in a while and I apply every time, but they haven't hired me yet. I'm working towards a degree in marine biology which will help.

That was one of my vague ambitions when I was younger... I wanted to volunteer with any organization that would let me work with otters. I came awfully close to asking around at the Monterey Aquarium, but at the time the commute just wasn't feasible. How close are you to landing your degree?

Ehm, it doesn't feel that close. A few years perhaps. I'm gonna see how far I can get in this community college where tuition is cheaper before transferring to CSU Monterey Bay or something.
