Oooooh boy, did this one give me trouble! *faints* I can't count the number of times I had to do the cloak pattern over and over and over and over and- :frustrated: -well, its done now. I know there are a few touch ups I could do, but I don't feel like it. XD
But anyway, here is Wrath depicted by Slagar the Cruel!
Now as you might wonder, why Slagar for Wrath, when there are so many other baddies who were more hot-headed?
Because unlike most of the other villains, Slagar's driving force was vengeance, a common trait in wrath. He came into the plot seeking revenge against Matthias and the Redwallers by kidnapping their children, all because he blamed them for his wounds. Granted, Slagar wasn't a berserker, but he killed *plenty* of creatures along the way. He didn't care who he hurt as long as he got what he wanted in the end, and it all stemmed from a self-contained rage. That, and venom-induced insanity, but still.
As for the pic itself, let me start by saying I copied BubbleWolf's pic: http://bubblewolf.deviantart.com/ar.....e-me-165646459 where Slagar's pose is concerned. When I first started imagining how this could look, I couldn't get BubbleWolf's pic out of my brain, so figured I might as well just go with it and make certain to give them credit. (I don't know how Slagar's cloak can act the way it is, but it is.)
Also, I decided not to use Nelvana's version of Slagar, since I've never really cared too much for that style anyway. I based Slagar's head off of the American book cover of "Mattimeo" because that's the first portrait I ever saw of ol' Slagums. ;) I did go with Nelvana's version of the other characters, mostly because I couldn't think of any other ways to draw them (plus I really like how they designed Basil).
I wanted this pic to have a lot of red to it, since obviously that's the color associated with wrath, but I don't think I succeeded as much as I would have liked. There's more orange than red, really, but at least Slagar's cloak appears to be more eye-catching. I'm also not too pleased with how the smoke came out; when I have some extra time I think I'll tweak it a little. But overall, I'm fairly pleased with how it all came out.
